Aerial Lineman — Fiber Construction

Location: Allentown, PA area

Pay: $40–$45/hr (based on experience)

About the Role

SimpleHire is hiring 15 Aerial Linemen for a large-scale fiber construction project with a major carrier in the Allentown, PA area. This is steady, project-backed work — not short-term or seasonal. Candidates will be installing and maintaining aerial fiber optic cable infrastructure, working from bucket trucks and climbing equipment on utility poles.


Responsibilities

  • Install, splice, and maintain aerial fiber optic cable on utility poles
  • Operate and work safely from bucket trucks, aerial lifts, and pole-climbing equipment
  • Read and interpret construction prints, maps, and work orders
  • Perform pole transfers and attachments per carrier and utility specifications
  • Identify and correct code violations and safety hazards on poles
  • Coordinate with ground crew and project foreman to maintain build schedule
  • Follow OSHA safety standards and company safety protocols at all times
  • Complete accurate daily job documentation and as-built records
  • Travel to job sites within the project area as assigned

Requirements

  • CDL-A license — required, no exceptions
  • Prior experience as an aerial lineman, fiber technician, or telecom construction worker
  • Comfortable working at heights and in bucket trucks/aerial lifts
  • Working knowledge of NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) standards preferred
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical outdoor labor in varying weather conditions
  • Reliable transportation to job site/yard
  • Pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
  • OSHA 10/30 certification a plus, not required

Compensation & Schedule

  • Pay rate: $40–$45/hr, based on experience level
  • Schedule: Full-time, standard construction workweek (weekend/overtime availability a plus)
  • Project duration: Ongoing carrier fiber build — long-term work, not a short-term contract
