These positions are ideal for businesses that operate seven days a week or need additional support during peak periods. Weekend accountants may handle bookkeeping, financial reporting, reconciliations, or other essential accounting duties outside of standard weekday hours. This role is well-suited for those seeking flexible work arrangements or supplemental income.

What are the typical responsibilities and workflow for an accountant working weekend shifts?

Accountants working weekend shifts often handle tasks such as processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports to ensure business continuity outside standard hours. They may also address urgent issues or provide support to teams that operate on weekends, such as retail or hospitality operations. • Oversee preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns.
Banking & Capital Management:
  • Manage bank reporting requirements, including preparation of financial packages.
  • Monitor loan covenant compliance and related calculations.
  • Support equipment financing activities and lender relationships.
Fixed Assets & Equipment:
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and reporting.
  • Manage equipment financing schedules and ensure accurate tracking of asset performance.
Process Improvement & Controls:
  • Assist in strengthening internal controls and financial processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies.
  • Support special projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:
Certifications & Education:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience:
  • Minimum 5+ years of public accounting experience (Big 4 or regional firm experience preferred).
  • Construction industry or construction accounting experience strongly preferred.
Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Experience with WIP reporting and percentage-of-completion accounting.
  • Familiarity with fixed assets, equipment financing, and bank covenant compliance.
  • Experience coordinating audits and tax filings.
Systems & Tools:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with accounting/ERP systems (construction systems a plus).
Core Competencies:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of attention to detail and accountability.

Why Join C.A.C. Industries?
  • Join a stable, growing heavy civil construction organization with a strong market presence.
  • Opportunity to work across multiple affiliated companies and diverse projects.
  • Participate in a newly established ESOP and share in the company’s long-term success.
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented environment with opportunities for advancement.

Application Process:
If you are a CPA seeking a hands-on role where you can make a meaningful impact within a growing construction organization, we encourage you to apply.
