About the Opportunity:

The Staff Accountant supports the overall finance function by assisting with month-end close activities, preparing journal entries, and monitoring expenses. This position reports to the Accounting Manager and works closely with the Site Controller as well as various site departments.

Location: Manchester, CT onsite/hybrid

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares journal entries and maintains the general ledger
  • Reconciles weekly payroll/AR/AP activity for the monthly bank reconciliation
  • Performs month-end close, including recurring journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Monitors manufacturing spend, analyzes variances, and partners with operations to explain budget-to-actual results.
  • Reviews purchase orders, invoices, and expense entries to ensure proper coding and alignment with production activities.
  • Supports capital expenditure tracking, project accounting, and fixed asset management for the site.
  • Assists in audit activities, providing documentation and explanations as needed.
  • Participates in supporting ad hoc projects as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time bases without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 months - 2yrs experience accounting experience
  • Aerospace and/or manufacturing experience
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and propose informed decisions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office products
  • Detailed oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment requiring you to pivot and adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
