Summary:
ย 
The Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission (SBSC), a division of Visit Shreveport-Bossier (VSB), seeks a Sports Sales Coordinator responsible for supporting the sales and event operations efforts of the Sports Commission. This position assists with identifying and qualifying leads, coordinating sales activities, maintaining relationships with industry partners, supporting event planning and servicing efforts, and promoting Shreveport-Bossier as a premier sports tourism destination.
The Sports Sales Coordinator will assist with sales presentations, site visits, trade shows, and industry outreach while providing administrative and logistical support throughout the sales process. This position will also assist with the coordination and execution of sporting events hosted by the Sports Commission.
In addition to job-related tasks, this individual should thrive while handling multiple responsibilities, work cohesively within a team environment, and positively contribute to the overall culture and mission of Visit Shreveport-Bossier.
Essential Functions and Accountabilities:
  • Assist in promoting Shreveport-Bossier as a destination for sporting events through sales outreach, industry research, and relationship-building efforts.
  • Research, identify, and qualify prospective sporting events, rights holders, and organizations through available resources including Playeasy, MINT+, CVENT, industry publications, and other lead generation tools.
  • Assist in developing proposals, bid documents, presentations, and other sales materials used to solicit sporting events to the destination.
  • Respond in a timely manner to inquiries, requests for proposals, and other lead sources while maintaining accurate records and activities within the organization's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Coordinate and assist with site visits, familiarization tours, and client meetings, including scheduling, itinerary development, venue coordination, and logistics.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with local hotels, venue operators, sports organizations, event rights holders, community partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Support the Director of Sports in sales efforts by assisting with prospecting activities, follow-up communications, lead generation, and maintaining sales pipelines.
  • Assist with the creation, organization, and distribution of sales and marketing materials related to sports tourism initiatives.
  • Assist with event servicing and operations for hosted sporting events, including pre-event planning, stakeholder coordination, hospitality functions, registration support, volunteer coordination, sponsor fulfillment, and on-site event assistance.
  • Coordinate event-related communications and assist with collecting post-event reports, attendance figures, room-night data, and economic impact information.
  • Support departmental goals and objectives by tracking sales activities, event outcomes, and performance metrics.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics standards and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the mission and ongoing success of Visit Shreveport-Bossier and the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission.
Desired Qualities:

  • Prefer a four-year degree from an academic institution in liberal arts, communications, marketing, or other related fields. Bachelorโ€™s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and attention to detail with the ability to work with area stakeholders to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize sales efforts and accurately report on key metrics
  • Proficiency in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with rights holders, hospitality leaders, internal staff and state partners.
  • Job experience in a related field including Hotels, CVB, and tourism-related industry preferred.
Job Requirements:
  • Normal work hours for this role are Monday โ€“ Friday (8 am to 5 pm).
  • The job often requires lifting, stooping, climbing, bending, and standing.
  • Some days may require working in outdoor elements regardless of the weather.
  • Occasional physical activity including setting up booths and lifting up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Able to travel on overnight business trips on weekdays, weekends, and occasionally holidays; normally 3โ€“5-night trips.
