Sea Colony Recreational Association Inc. is seeking a Director of Racquet Sports! Qualified candidates will thrive in a hospitality environment and be highly focused on providing superior service.

Position Overview 
The Director of Racquet Sports is responsible for providing visionary leadership and operational oversight for the tennis and pickleball programs at Sea Colony located in Bethany Beach, Delaware. This role drives program excellence, homeowner and member engagement, staff development, and financial performance, ensuring a vibrant and inclusive racquet sports community. 
 
Key Responsibilities 
Program Leadership & Development 
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive annual plan for all racquet sport programs, events, clinics, and leagues. 
  • Introduce innovative programming for all ages and skill levels to drive participation and member satisfaction. 
  • Oversee competitive and recreational play, tournaments, exhibitions, social events, and junior development pathways. 
  • Maintain consistent standards for instruction, coaching methodology, and player development across all racquet sports. 
Staff Management 
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate racquet sports professionals, assistants, and support staff. 
  • Create staff schedules, assign coaching responsibilities, and conduct performance reviews. 
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, member service, and continuous improvement. 
Member Experience & Community Engagement 
  • Serve as the primary ambassador for all racquet activities, engaging regularly with members and guests. 
  • Address member inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally. 
  • Promote a welcoming environment that supports beginner, intermediate, and advanced players alike. 
Operations & Facility Oversight 
  • Oversee the maintenance, safety, and presentation of all racquet sports facilities, including courts, pro shop, and equipment. 
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure optimal court conditions and facility readiness. 
  • Manage reservations, programming calendars, and event logistics. 
Financial Management 
  • Develop and manage the racquet sports budget, including revenue forecasting, expense control, and program profitability. 
  • Oversee pro shop operations, including inventory selection, merchandising, and sales strategies. 
  • Monitor financial performance and provide monthly reporting to senior leadership. 
Marketing & Communications 
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to promote programs, events, and membership opportunities. 
  • Create communication plans, newsletters, and digital content to keep members informed and engaged. 
  • Represent the club at external events, local associations, and community initiatives. 
 
Qualifications 
Required 
  • Extensive experience (typically 7–10+ years) in racquet sports instruction, program management, or club leadership. 
  • Strong background in tennis, with competency in pickleball. 
  • Proven leadership and staff development skills. 
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and relationshipbuilding abilities. 
  • Financial acumen and experience managing budgets or revenuegenerating programs. 
Preferred 
  • College degree in sports management, business, recreation, or related field. 
  • USPTA, PTR, PPR, or other industry certifications. 
  • Experience working in private clubs, resorts, or highvolume recreational facilities. 
Physical Requirements 
  • Ability to teach or lead racquet sports instruction on court for extended periods. 
  • Capacity to lift and carry equipment (typically up to 40 lbs). 
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for events and programming.
