As a Day Porter, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and welcoming atmosphere of our facilities. Position Details

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8pm to 6:30am 
  • Pay: $16.50/hour

What You'll Do: As a Custodian, you will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming space for everyone. Key responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning & Maintenance: Sweep, mop, vacuum floors, and wipe down surfaces, including desks, tables, and counters. You'll also clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors.
  • Restocking Supplies: Keep restrooms stocked with essentials like toilet paper, soap, and paper towels. Ensure dispensers are filled and monitor supplies across the facility.
  • Floor Care: Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
  • Safety & Security: Identify safety hazards and report them to the supervisor. Maintain a secure and safe environment for building occupants.
  • Customer Service: Provide courteous, helpful assistance to staff, visitors, and fellow team members, creating a positive and welcoming environment.

  • Experience: At least one year of janitorial or cleaning experience preferred.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Skills: Ability to use cleaning equipment and knowledge of safety protocols. Must be able to work independently and interact courteously with others.
  • Physical Requirements:

    The physical requirements described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.     • Working Conditions: The role may involve prolonged exposure to heat and varying weather conditions during the summer months. Employees must be able to tolerate and work safely in high-temperature environments while following all safety procedures and hydration guidelines.
    • Must be able to stand, walk, and move continuously throughout an entire shift on various surfaces including concrete, tile, and carpet; ability to climb stairs and navigate multi-floor facilities as needed
    • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 lbs. unassisted frequently; up to 35 infrequently
    • Must be able to push and maneuver loaded janitorial carts, trash receptacles, and supply carts weighing up to 25 lbs. frequently; up to 35 infrequently
    • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting, and overhead reaching up to 8 feet using a step stool or ladder; repeated twisting and extension of arms and shoulders while mopping, sweeping, scrubbing, and wiping surfaces
    • Ability to grip, squeeze, and manipulate cleaning tools, spray bottles, brooms, mops, and equipment controls repeatedly throughout the shift; manual dexterity sufficient to operate floor buffers, auto scrubbers, wet/dry vacuums, and steam cleaners
    • Ability to identify areas requiring cleaning, inspect surfaces for soil and residue, and read product labels and safety data sheets (SDS); ability to distinguish colors sufficient to sort waste streams and identify chemical products
    • Must be able to work in environments with varying temperatures including outdoor areas, and high-humidity areas such as restrooms and kitchens; ability to tolerate exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, odors, and allergens while following all PPE and safety protocols
    • Capable of maintaining consistent physical output throughout the shift with standard rest breaks
