Job description

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Manager, Bank Protection Fraud Specialist. The Fraud Specialist Manager will lead a team of fraud specialists dedicated to identifying, investigating, and preventing fraudulent activities. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of fraud detection methodologies. The Fraud Specialist Manager will ensure the team operates efficiently and effectively, maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of fraud specialists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Fraud Detection: Oversee the implementation and enhancement of fraud detection systems and processes to identify suspicious activities.
  • Investigation: Direct and support complex fraud investigations, ensuring thorough analysis and documentation. Assist in fraud review queues as necessary.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports on fraud trends, investigations, and outcomes to senior Bank Protection management. Present detailed findings to Fraud Committee on the monthly call. 
  • Compliance: Ensure all fraud prevention activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Training: Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the team's skills and knowledge in fraud detection and prevention.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to coordinate efforts and share insights.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance fraud prevention strategies.
  • Technology: Stay updated on the latest fraud detection technologies and tools, recommending and implementing new solutions as needed.
  • Customer Service: Handle escalated fraud cases with a focus on customer satisfaction and resolution, completing Customer Feedback tickets within the designated SLA.

To be successful in this position, we require the following: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Five (5) years of security, law enforcement, fraud or related experience and two (2) years of management experience.

The following would be a plus: 

  • Bachelor’s degree.
