Compensation: $120,000 to $135,000 base salary, depending on experience
Key Required Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
• 3+ years of hands-on mechanical or product engineering experience involving manufactured thermal products such as heat exchangers, cooling packages, radiators, condensers, evaporators, coils, chillers, or commercial and industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment
• Experience creating or maintaining 3D models, production drawings, BOMs, engineering changes, specifications, and design documentation
• SolidWorks, Inventor, or comparable 3D CAD experience
• Marine cooling, marine HVAC, marine refrigeration, compact cooling systems, or products operating in saltwater, corrosive, or other harsh environments
• Experience supporting manufacturing, production, product validation, quality, troubleshooting, or plant-floor problem solving
• Understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, revision control, and design for manufacturing
• Experience with sheet metal, welding, brazing, tubing, machining, assemblies, tooling, fixtures, or related manufacturing processes
Preferred Experience:
• OE manufacturing, ISO environments, APQP, PPAP, product validation, control plans, PFMEA input, dimensional reviews, or production-launch documentation
• Experience improving manufacturability, throughput, cost, quality, scrap, or recurring production issues
• Experience mentoring engineers or designers while remaining hands-on
About the Role:
An established manufacturing company is seeking a hands-on Mechanical / Product Design Engineer to support the design, improvement, validation, and manufacturing of thermal products and cooling-related assemblies.
This is a fully onsite position in Sarasota, Florida. The engineer will work closely with the product, production floor, quality team, suppliers, and operations.
The role is best suited for someone who can support product design, engineering changes, manufacturing troubleshooting, testing, documentation, and production improvement. This is not a purely CAD position and is not a hands-off management role.
Responsibilities:
• Design, revise, and maintain mechanical product models, drawings, specifications, BOMs, and engineering-change documentation
• Support product development and improvement from concept through production
• Create and revise 3D models and 2D production drawings
• Work with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations to improve manufacturability, quality, throughput, and cost
• Support prototypes, pilot builds, testing, functional validation, durability testing, and production-launch activities
• Assist with design records, dimensional reviews, control-plan input, PFMEA input, and other quality documentation
• Troubleshoot product and manufacturing issues with operations and quality teams
• Apply DFM, DFA, and DFMA principles to reduce complexity and improve production efficiency
• Support tooling, fixtures, work instructions, setup documentation, and production-process improvements
• Analyze manufacturing, quality, field, and test feedback to identify root causes and support corrective actions
• Participate in customer and supplier technical discussions as needed
