Job description

$150,000โ€“$165,000 | Port Charlotte, FL Area

The Opportunity

No overnight shifts. No weekends. A predictable Monday-through-Friday schedule that lets you build a life outside the emergency department, not just recover from it.

This community hospital ED is looking for an experienced Emergency Medicine NP or PA to join a team-based department where you're managing low to moderate acuity cases, ordering and interpreting diagnostics, and performing procedures within your scopeโ€”working closely with physicians and nursing staff who actually collaborate, not just delegate.

You're about 30 minutes from Port Charlotte and an hour from Sarasota, in a part of Southwest Florida that trades coastal congestion for open space, affordable living, and short commutesโ€”with Gulf Coast beaches and regional airports still well within reach.

Why You'll Love This Role

Schedule that respects your life. Shifts run 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday. No overnights, no weekend rotations.

Pay that reflects the work. $85/hour as a permanent 1099 roleโ€”$163,200/year with 4 weeks off, or $156,400/year with 6 weeks off. You choose the trade-off.

A department built for teamwork. This is a team-based Emergency Department culture, not a sink-or-swim solo coverage model.

Systems you already know. Documentation runs on Meditech EMR.

What Your Week Looks Like

Five 8-hour weekday shifts, 12 PM to 8 PM. You're managing low to moderate acuity patients, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, and performing procedures within your scope of practiceโ€”all while working alongside physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary team members who are part of that day-to-day collaboration, not just names on an org chart.

What We're Looking For
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • About 2 years of recent hospital-based Emergency Medicine experience (required for credentialing)
  • Active Florida license, or the ability to obtain one
  • ACLS, BLS, and PALS required
  • ATLS preferred but not required
Why Candidates Say Yes

A true weekday-only, no-overnight schedule is rare in Emergency Medicineโ€”most EM providers spend their careers chasing night and weekend differentials just to make ends meet. Here, the schedule itself is the differential. Pair that with 1099 flexibility on time off and a collaborative department culture, and this is the kind of role EM NPs and PAs actively look for but rarely find.
