Job description

The Indianapolis Zoo offers a unique, beautiful setting to groups and individuals looking to hold their meetings or events in the heart of Indianapolis.
Our Sales Assistant position is a supporting role within the Zoo's Sales department. The successful candidate will have a polished, professional image, an outgoing personality, and a drive to assist with all things administrative and event management. Some experience in sales, marketing, the hospitality industry, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Additionally, the Sales Assistant will serve as a backup for the Sales Coordinator to assist with phone calls, emails, group ticket requests, and venue/space reservations. The successful candidate will also assist the Sales team with corporate and social events (including weddings). This is a part-time position, approximately 20-29 hours per week. Must have availability to work weekends and evenings as needed. Pay for this exciting opportunity is $15.00 per hour.
Responsibilities and requirements include, but are not limited to:
  • Answer phones, respond to inquiries, take messages.
  • Conduct on-site prospect/client tours as needed and assist with on-site promotions and events.
  • Indiana Driver's License (or ability to obtain one), and a driving record that is insurable by the Zoo's insurance.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills are required.
  • Extremely organized, deadline and detail driven, and has the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook, and intermediate knowledge of Excel.
