TITLE: DATA WEBSITE TECHNICIAN

DEPARTMENT: LANGUAGE/CULTURE

LOCATION: WELLPINIT, WA

STATUS: REGULAR FULL-TIME (GRANT FUNDED TO 6/20/2028)

RATE OF PAY: $19.65-$25.00

POSITION SUMMARY:

The goal of the Tribal Language/Culture Program is to preserve the language, culture and history of the Spokane Tribe. Our main goal is to ensure that the language is being passed down from generation to generation. The Data/Website Technologist will learn the Spokane Language and assist the Tribal Language/Culture Program in the efforts to preserve and revitalize the Spokane Language and Culture.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate strong computer literacy, including practical experience with web design, web technologies, content management systems, and digital workflows.
  • Design, develop, and maintain the Language/Culture Program and Back to the Heart websites using modern web design best practices, ensuring accessibility, responsiveness, and usability.
  • Upload, format, and organize written and spoken teaching materials and lessons on program websites, including metadata and navigation structure.
  • Produce and edit highquality images and audio using Adobe Photoshop, industrystandard audio editing software, and other relevant programs.
  • Prepare media for web publication, ensuring correct file formats, compression, tagging, and backup.
  • Operate and maintain digital cameras, audio recorders, studio recording equipment, projectors, DVD burners, GPS devices, and other multimedia hardware.
  • Securely store, catalog, back up, and manage digital media assets, including photographs, video,and audio files.
  • Secure and store pictures, video, and audio recordings of Back to the Heart students and staff.
  • Ensure all written, typed, and audio files in the archives are securely stored onsite, with duplicate copies maintained offsite for disaster recovery.
  • Implement and maintain an organized digital and physical filing system for project files, media assets, and program records.
  • Ensure all documents and websitehosted materials are accurate, complete, and consistently formatted.
  • Produce accurate documentation of processes, releases, and consent forms.
  • Maintain working knowledge of common office software, with proficiency in Microsoft 365 for documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and collaboration.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and respond promptly to timesensitive matters.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational or technical issues promptly and professionally during events and production activities.
  • Ensure events and projects run smoothly through effective planning and problemsolving.
  • Work respectfully and professionally with Tribal Elders, language speakers, and community members to gather, verify, and preserve cultural and linguistic materials.
  • Record and interview Elders and other knowledgeable individuals.
  • Data entry into extensive password protected database, and continuous upkeep of database.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the spoken and written language and cultural practices of the Spokane Tribe or be willing to learn.
  • Ensure website development adheres to the goals and objectives of language grants.
  • Communicate ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively in both written and spoken form for a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage constructively with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Participate in required training and professional development to maintain and expand technical, cultural, and production skills.
  • Support the successful execution of cultural events by helping with event setup, onsite assistance, and postevent breakdown/clean-up.
  • Perform other duties assigned that support the goals of the Language/Culture program.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional office environment.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must be a positive role model for students and community.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, will work respectfully with Elders and other culturally knowledgeable people and students.
  • Must be able to pass required state, federal and tribal background checks.
  • Must have a valid WA State Driver's License and be able to meet Tribal insurance requirements.
