Summary
Michigan Tech IT develops and supports technology solutions that enable Michigan Tech's faculty, students, and staff to excel in teaching, learning, research, scholarship, and public service. We're committed to a diverse and inclusive community.
As a member of Information Technology, this position will assume a meaningful role implementing Data Governance initiatives, supervising a team of Business System Analysts while providing operational support for the core administrative systems.
Operational support includes understanding the University business processes, documenting procedures, providing training, loading data, sending bulk email communications, writing reports, creating data visualizations and processing system access requests.
You will become part of a culture that empowers employees, treats them with respect, and encourages innovation and open communication.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
• Supervisory responsibilities for a team of Business System and Intelligence Analysts.
• Chair the Data Stewardship Council and support the institution's pursuit of data governance.
• Create and execute queries/reports/data visualizations using campus software reporting tools. Including but not limited to WebFOCUS and SQL.
• Generate bulk email communications.
• Process data loads.
• As new software is selected, assist in the application configuration/setup.
• Develop guidelines, test plans, training and documentation for supported software and associated business processes as needed.
• Review questions/issues with supported software and determine if the software is working as intended. Follow-up with the vendor and campus partners as needed.
• Assist in testing new releases.
• Provide periodic support outside of regular business operating hours including evenings and weekends.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
• Process access requests for core administrative systems.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
Required Education, Certifications, Licensures
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
Required Experience
• Minimum 4 years' professional experience in an administrative application support role as a business systems analyst or similar responsibilities .
• Professional experience writing SQL
• Relevant experience writing report
