As a Senior Manager, Information Technology at Smithfield Foods, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight of enterprise IT applications, systems, and integrations. This includes oversight of web application platforms and SAP development capabilities, including ABAP-based solutions and related technical delivery. In this role, you will set direction for IT support and delivery teams, ensuring the stability, scalability, and performance of business-critical technologies. You will partner with executive leadership, business stakeholders, and IT teams to drive alignment between technology initiatives and organizational objectives, while fostering innovation, governance, and continuous improvement across the IT landscape. The role also supports evolving modernization efforts across SAP and digital application environments.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the vision, strategy, and roadmap for IT application support, integrations, and systems management to align with business priorities. Includes alignment of web application delivery and SAP development (e.g., ABAP, Fiori/UI5) with enterprise modernization goals.
  • Governance & Best Practices: Oversee governance processes, including change, release, incident, and problem management, ensuring compliance with established protocols and industry standards. Supports adherence to software development lifecycle practices, code quality standards, and transport governance within web and SAP development environments.
  • Enterprise Oversight: Lead multiple IT teams supporting enterprise applications, SAP environments, integrations, and plant/warehouse systems, ensuring seamless operations across business functions. Includes teams responsible for web applications, SAP custom development, and associated technical solutions.
  • Collaboration & Influence: Serve as a trusted advisor to business and IT leadership, building partnerships that enable informed decision-making and sustainable technology solutions•
  • Innovation & Process Improvement: Drive innovation through the adoption of automation, proactive monitoring, and emerging best practices to improve efficiency and reduce risk. Encourages modern development practices, reusable patterns, and continuous improvement across SAP and web application platforms.
  • Resource & Project Management: Direct project portfolios and resource planning to balance capacity, deliver high-quality outcomes, and meet timelines across complex initiatives. Includes coordination of web and SAP development demand, capacity, and delivery timelines.
  • Communication & Reporting: Provide regular updates to executive leadership on IT performance, risks, and progress toward strategic objectives, ensuring transparency and alignment.
  • Leadership: Drives a positive employee experience through leadership by way of employee development and coaching.

WHAT WE'RE SEEKING:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field, and 8+ years of progressive IT experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strategic IT Leadership: 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership.
  • Technical Expertise: Broad knowledge of enterprise applications, SAP environments, integration tools, and IT operations; ability to oversee both functional and technical domains. Familiarity with web application architectures, SAP ABAP development, Fiori/UI5, and custom code lifecycle practices is beneficial.
  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of how IT enables business outcomes, with experience aligning technology strategies to organizational objectives.
  • Communication & Influence: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence executive stakeholders and cross-functional partners.
  • Change Leadership: Proven ability to lead organizations through change, driving adoption of best practices and new technologies while maintaining operational stability.
  • Project & Portfolio Management: Experience managing large-scale IT projects and portfolios, balancing competing priorities, resources, and timelines.
  • Team & Culture Fit: Respectful, approachable, and collaborative leader with the ability to inspire teams, build strong relationships, and promote a positive, high-performing culture.

The expected pay range for this position is $120,000 - $162,500 annually.
Smithfield Foods provides pay ranges that reflect its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the company reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of hire. Individual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, location of the position, the candidate's qualifications and experience, internal equity, external market pay for comparable positions and budget considerations.
