Opportunity at a Glance

The Senior Manager, Experience Strategy & Web Performance is the designated owner of institutional web channel(s), accountable for end-to-end website experience, performance and business outcomes. This role owns user experience (UX), website conversion and strategic enhancements, with direct responsibility for delivering against channel KPIs and ongoing optimization.

This leader manages UX and CRO capabilities within their team and operates in a highly matrixed environment, partnering closely with Web Managers, Analytics, Technology, Marketing and Search leadership. While execution is delivered through partner teams, this role owns experience direction, governance and performance outcomes for their channels.

Responsibilities

Channel Ownership

  • Act as the single accountable owner for assigned institutional web channel(s), responsible for performance, KPIs and continuous optimization.
  • Translate institutional goals and priorities into web strategy and quarterly roadmaps.
  • Define how the website experience should evolve to support business objectives and user needs.

Experience Strategy

  • Own the end‑to‑end website experience, ensuring usability, clarity and effectiveness across key user journeys.
  • Lead UX and CRO functions, setting direction and managing managers and specialists responsible for execution.
  • Ensure UX and CRO operate as an integrated system across experience improvements.
  • Identify and prioritize high‑impact enhancements that improve experience and performance.
  • Establish experience principles, design standards and frameworks guiding UX, CRO and site improvements.
  • Guide experience evolution through a mix of research, design, data and experimentation.
  • Own and maintain a prioritized backlog of web work aligned to business goals, performance data and strategic roadmap.
  • Ensure work is clearly defined, sequenced and actionable for execution teams.

Analytics, Performance & Business Impact

  • Independently analyze website, funnel and business performance using analytics tools and operational data.
  • Identify trends, diagnose root causes and distinguish between experience, traffic quality and execution issues.
  • Oversee tagging, tracking and experiment setup to ensure data accuracy and usability.
  • Develop and drive action plans tied to measurable business outcomes.
  • Communicate performance insights, risks and recommendations effectively to senior and executive leadership.

Web Governance & Matrixed Partnership

  • Own the web governance model, ensuring adherence to compliance, brand, content quality, accessibility and mobile standards.
  • Partner with Search leadership to ensure on‑site experience supports user intent and traffic quality.
  • Collaborate with Web Managers, Analytics, Technology, Marketing and Enrollment teams to align execution with experience strategy.
  • Influence outcomes across teams in a highly matrixed environment without direct ownership of all execution.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Digital Media, Communications, Human‑Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience, Business, Information Systems, or a related field required.
  • Master's Degree in MBA, UX/HCI, Digital Strategy, Analytics, or related field preferred.
  • At least 7 years experience leading website, UX, digital experience, or performance-focused roles with strategic scope.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven experience managing UX and CRO teams in enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Website user experience and usability principles
    • Website conversion and on-site user behavior
    • Enterprise CMS platforms (e.g., Sitecore, AEM, Drupal)
    • Experimentation platforms (e.g., Optimizely)
    • Web analytics tools and data interpretation
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, diagnose issues and drive performance improvements.
  • Knowledge of web governance best practices, including accessibility and compliance standards.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect experience decisions to measurable outcomes.
  • Experience operating effectively in complex, highly matrixed organizations.
  • Strong executive communication and influence skills.
  • Self-directed, adaptable and comfortable navigating ambiguity and change.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $80,336.75 and $145,077.09. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
