Job description

Description
Nitsch Engineering is seeking a Transportation Design Project Manager to join our team at one of our three Massachusetts offices: Boston, Worcester, or Lawrence. As we continue to grow our market share, we strive to position ourselves and build on our successful model of client delivery by expanding our transportation engineering capabilities.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and oversee all aspects of transportation engineering projects for local and state government clients (MassDOT, City of Boston, and Municipal Agencies), and private clients
  • Staff and supervise the project team (including subconsultants), coordinating their efforts, mediating any disagreements, mentoring staff, and making decisions which reflect the best interest of both the company and its clients
  • Perform technical quality control reviews
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of milestone and final submissions
  • Manage the design of roadways, streets, intersections, rail trails, shared-use paths, other ancillary facilities, and transportation studies
  • Oversee the preparation of construction documents, specifications, estimates, and engineering reports
  • Develop new business and serve as the face of Nitsch for conferences and professional organizations
  • Lead and advocate for the professional development of existing staff

Requirements
  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • Massachusetts Professional Engineer License, or the ability to obtain one within one year if currently licensed in another state
  • 10+ years' experience in Transportation/Highway engineering
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering programs including, but not limited to, AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Knowledge of project management roles and responsibilities and a history of successful client management
  • Ability to see the big picture and create staffing plans to adequately staff both current and future projects
  • Experience in performing and overseeing analysis and design, preparing calculations, developing details, preparing specifications and estimates as well as managing the preparation of bid documents is required
  • Understanding of project metrics, including scope, budget, multiplier, additional service needs, and programs used to track metrics
  • Experience with construction administration services including interpreting design intent, evaluating construction for compliance with contract documents, and directing of engineering support personnel
  • Experience in preparing proposals, business development, and the ability to make public presentations
