Job description


Essential Job Duties:
  • Develop enhancements and complete the remaining web development for the Western Small Flocks Collaborative educational platform, ensuring all project deliverables are completed in accordance with federal grant requirements, project timelines, and established technical standards.
  • Design and implement new website features, functionality, and user interface improvements by incorporating feedback from project coordinators, subject matter experts, and stakeholders while maintaining consistency with the existing platform architecture.
  • Maintain and optimize the functionality, performance, accessibility, security, and usability of the web-based application by identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues to ensure a reliable and intuitive user experience.
  • Collaborate with project leadership, outreach personnel, and technical partners to translate program objectives into effective web-based solutions that support educational outreach, resource dissemination, and stakeholder engagement across multiple states.
  • Test, validate, and document web applications and system updates prior to deployment, ensuring compatibility, quality assurance, and compliance with project specifications and applicable accessibility standards.
  • Manage project priorities and development activities to ensure completion of critical milestones within federal grant deadlines, proactively communicating project status, technical challenges, and recommended solutions to project leadership.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the Western Small Flocks Collaborative and associated outreach initiatives.

Decision Making:
  • Determine the most effective technical approach for implementing new website features and enhancements while maintaining compatibility with the existing application architecture, project objectives, and established development standards.
  • Prioritize development tasks and project milestones based on federal grant deadlines, stakeholder needs, technical complexity, and overall project impact to ensure timely completion of required deliverables.
  • Evaluate website functionality, performance, accessibility, and user experience, determining appropriate modifications to improve usability, resolve technical issues, and ensure a reliable final product.
  • Identify technical risks, development challenges, or project obstacles, determining when issues can be resolved independently and when project leadership should be consulted to minimize impacts to project timelines and grant deliverables.
  • Select appropriate design solutions, programming methods, and system enhancements that effectively incorporate stakeholder feedback while preserving the integrity, functionality, and long-term maintainability of the web-based educational platform.

Supervision:
  • No formal supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Education:
  • BS in IT, computer science, or similar technical field.

Minimum Experience:
  • 2 years of prior web product development experience.
  • Experience with the development and implementation of the Western Small Flocks Collaborative website and educational platform developed under the USDA NADPRP "Poultry Health, Biosecurity, and Preparedness Across Borders: A Tri-State & Navajo Nation Initiative" grant.

  • Pre-employment criminal background check
  • Essential Services Designation: Required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety and welfare.
  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not sponsor a visa for this position.

Salary Range
