About the Role The Alumni Communications and Content Creator leads the creation and implementation of compelling and strategic digital content across alumni social media accounts and communications channels including the alumni website, e-newsletter and e-mail campaigns. Working closely with the Lead, Alumni Communications and Content, the Communications and Content Creator plays a vital role in the success of the Alumni Relations strategic plan and leads important social media and digital content efforts to increase alumni engagement and mobilize alumni as key ambassadors for Mount Royal. They must possess a balance of strategic and practical experience utilizing a wide range of communications and marketing tools, as well as strong communication and relationship building skills.

The Communications and Content Creator must pair creativity with meticulous attention to detail. Their focus is on strong planning, organization and execution-bringing heart and energy to daily storytelling while reliably meeting deadlines and keeping communication and content channels aligned to strategy. This role works within an integrated alumni and development team, part of Mount Royal's Division of Community Engagement.

Responsibilities Content Creation Develop and manage engaging, original content for MRU Alumni social media channels (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn), including graphics, short-form videos, reels, carousels, polls, and stories. Maintain various content calendars aligned with alumni initiatives and institutional priorities. Track digital trends and adjust strategies to enhance reach and engagement

Research, write, and edit cross-platform stories for web, email, and print. Create multimedia content showcasing alumni achievements and MRU's impact. Ensure alignment to brand standards, voice, and style guide across all social media and communications content.

Social Media Content for Alumni Programming and Events Lead the development and implementation of social media and communications plans for alumni programming and events and evaluate campaign success. Capture and share event content via live social media, photography, and post-event storytelling. Contribute to university-wide campaigns that engage alumni, students, and the broader community.

Collaborate with alumni programs specialists to ensure content aligns to programming and event goals. Collaboration and Community Engagement Lead the recruitment of alumni and future alumni volunteers to serve as content creators, including all logistics and stewardship. Work collaboratively with Development and Community Engagement and campus colleagues.

Interact positively and collaboratively with staff and faculty across campus to identify content co-creation opportunities that align to broader alumni goals. Data Coordination Ensure the timely and accurate entry of contacts, calls and procured contact and profile information about alumni individuals, community partners and organizations, etc. Develop and share monthly social media and communications reports that showcase social media, web and email marketing analytics.

Leverage analytics to inform future planning. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications The successful candidate will bring: Minimum 3-5 years of combined experience in one or more of the following: social media, content marketing, alumni engagement, community engagement, fundraising or business development, stakeholder engagement, public relations, marketing and communications.

Demonstrated experience in successfully creating content for multiple social media accounts, as well as experience in photography and filming, editing video content for social media. Exceptional relationship-building skills including working effectively with internal colleagues, alumni and community partners. Demonstrated success in audience growth and engagement.

Outstanding writing, storytelling and copy-editing skills. Knowledge of tools such as CapCut, Canva, Sprout Social, Mail Chimp, and web content management.
