Job description

Braun Intertec is seeking an Operations Supervisor for our Construction Materials Testing (CMT) operations in the Austin, TX office.

Up to $5000,00. sign on bonus!

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of technicians and special inspectors responsible for completing field work. Including supervision, mentorship, training and assisting with hiring of staff. Mentorship includes conducting performance review of technicians as scheduled to stimulate and reward improved performance. Prepares subordinates for promotional opportunities and enhanced responsibilities.
  • Assist office leadership in the development and implementation of CMT policies and best practices and setting direction for the CMT group, in coordination with the CMT Operations team.
  • Performs routine to complex inspection and testing of construction materials in the field to verify conformance to construction plans and specifications. Prepare complete and accurate daily reports on observation activities in a timely fashion.
  • Supports the company safety policy and is responsible for communicating and implementing safe work practices and performing safety audits of field staff as needed.
  • Works closely with the Business Unit Manager to execute on goals and business objectives.
  • Coordinate with scheduler and other regional operations to share resources and manage workloads.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of assigned personnel on and on-going basis through personal contact with clients
  • Works closely with consulting staff representatives to prepare proposals.
  • Perform quality control review of the testing and inspection work performed by assigned staff; identify, investigate and resolve internal and external quality issues on projects.
  • Coordinate and communicate with members of the consulting group on project progress and issues that arise. This individual has ultimate ownership of technical success for the field aspects of the project.
  • May make extended stays at job-sites as required
  • Manage and maintain field and laboratory equipment, including calibrations and supporting laboratory accreditation related activities. Assist in management of local fleet vehicles; including planning, maintenance and stewardship.
  • Collect and communicate business intelligence collected during the performance of our services with other members of the consulting team.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, at times with short notice
  • Excellent construction document reading and interpretation skills.
  • Understanding and experience performing field testing and Special Inspections related to soils, concrete, and masonry in commercial and public projects.
  • Computer aptitude and ability to adapt to company's systems

Required Experience and Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent minimum, technical school or college course work a plus
  • ACI Field Level I Certification required
  • Nuclear Density Gauge Certification required
  • Experience in materials testing required
  • Relevant post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering or Construction Management a preferred but not required.
  • Require a minimum of 5 years' experience in materials testing or construction.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Understands safety matrices and expectations.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain required ICC certifications as necessary and within reasonable timeframe.
