Press Operator

Summary: 

This position is responsible for accurately and efficiently operating an offset printing press producing a large variety of applications of scannable/non scannable documents.

Essential Position Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate a web offset press producing quality scannable documents.  Meet customer specifications and scanning requirements based on basic knowledge of Scannable/Non-Scannable OMR, OCR, Image scanning and production standards.
  • Understanding of color, densities and inks.
  • Understanding of paper types and requirements.
  • Read and understand basic PACE job ticket specifications.
  • Perform all quality checks during and after the production process to ensure that the finished product meets customer’s specifications and expectations. Must adhere to known scannable quality standards
  • Monitor and accurately record hours worked, paper consumption, and plate remakes for job costing and billing documentation.
  • Achieve daily production goals with a minimum of waste and rework due to quality issues.
  • Safe operation of equipment
  • Troubleshoot printing problems effectively with minimal waste.
  • Must perform all required preventive maintenance
  • Advanced Mechanical aptitude
  • Must perform all required press repairs
  • Meets expectations and requirements of ISO Procedures and Work Instructions
  • Cleaning the printing press and work area
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year experience in press operations or technical school graphics graduate
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and basic mathematical skills

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

Reporting to this position:  No direct reports

Physical Requirements: This job requires frequent stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, and grasping, the ability to hear clearly at conversation levels, the ability to lift objects of pounds or more routinely and have clear close, peripheral and distance vision. The essential duties must be performed satisfactorily for an individual to successfully fulfill the requirements of this position. This position will be occasionally exposed to some hazardous material and conditions.
