What is a web developer internship?

A Web Developer Internship is a temporary position designed for students or recent graduates to gain practical experience in building and maintaining websites and web applications. Interns typically work under the supervision of experienced developers and may assist with coding, testing, debugging, and designing web pages. This role provides valuable hands-on exposure to industry tools, programming languages, and best practices while helping interns develop their technical and teamwork skills. Successful completion of a web developer internship can enhance a candidate's resume and increase their chances of securing a full-time web development role.

What is a web developer internship?

In a web developer internship, you work with professional developers, designers, and project managers to support the development of a website and learn the skills of the trade. As an intern, you may assist with coding under the direction of a professional computer programmer, test existing code, format graphics for web use, or communicate with clients about the project. Your responsibilities may also involve testing new technology for potential use in the web development project. Some interns perform additional clerical duties as needed.

What are the typical projects and tasks assigned to a web developer intern, and how do they contribute to the overall team?

Web developer interns often work on a variety of tasks such as assisting with website updates, debugging code, creating new web pages, and implementing design changes under the guidance of senior developers. These projects allow interns to gain hands-on experience with web technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and sometimes frameworks like React or Angular. Interns usually collaborate closely with designers, back-end developers, and project managers, contributing to real-world projects that impact the organization's digital presence. This collaborative environment helps interns develop both technical skills and an understanding of professional workflows, setting a strong foundation for future career growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a web developer intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Web Developer Intern, you need a solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a foundational grasp of web development principles, often supported by coursework or self-taught projects. Familiarity with version control systems like Git and exposure to frameworks such as React or Angular are highly beneficial. Strong problem-solving abilities, willingness to learn, and effective communication skills help interns collaborate and adapt in team environments. These skills are crucial for contributing to real-world projects, learning quickly, and building a successful foundation for a web development career.

Can I be a web developer internship with no experience?

Web developer internships often do not require prior professional experience and are designed for beginners. Candidates typically need basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and demonstrating a portfolio or personal projects can improve chances of acceptance.

How to get a web developer internship?

To secure a web developer internship, build a portfolio showcasing your projects, learn relevant skills such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks, and apply to internships through company websites, job boards, or university career centers. Having a basic understanding of version control tools like Git and a willingness to learn are also beneficial.

Job description

SubsidiaryNew MillenniumOverviewWhat Does Steel Dynamics Do?Steel Dynamics is a leading industrial metals solutions company that produces lower-carbon, high-quality steel products primarily from recycled scrap. Operating through a circular manufacturing model, the company manufactures a wide range of steel products including flat roll, structural, and long products for industries such as construction, automotive, energy, and manufacturing. In addition to steel production, Steel Dynamics operates metals recycling facilities, steel fabrication plants, and aluminum production operations, serving customers across North America with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and sustainability. This is a New Millennium Position. Who is New Millennium?A division of Steel Dynamics Inc. This combination of office and on-site project involvement provides students with exposure to the full lifecycle of civil engineering work in a manufacturing setting. Many interns also work alongside contractors, operators, and engineers, giving them a broader perspective of how civil engineering integrates with operations and business strategy. The result is an experience that goes beyond traditional internships by preparing students to solve real-world challenges and contribute measurable value from day one. Internship LocationThis internship is located at the New Millennium Corporate Office located in Fort Wayne, IN. About Steel Dynamics

Sourced by ZipRecruiter

Steel Dynamics is one of the largest and most diversified domestic steel producers and metals recyclers in the United States, with an estimated steelmaking and coating capacity of approximately 13 million tons, and facilities located throughout the United States and in Mexico. We operate using a circular manufacturing model, producing lower-carbon-emission, quality steel using electric arc furnace (EAF) technology with recycled ferrous scrap as the primary input. Our circular economy is powered by our three primary operating platforms: steel, metals recycling, and steel fabrication. Our steel operations produce steel products, including hot roll, cold roll, and coated sheet steel, structural steel beams and shapes, rail, engineered special-bar-quality steel, cold finished steel, merchant bar products, and specialty steel sections. Our metals recycling operations collect and process ferrous and nonferrous scrap from manufacturing and end-of-life items, such as automobiles, appliances, and machinery. This processed scrap is then sold to end-users for reuse, including our EAF steel mills, which produce new steel from the scrapped material. We sell a meaningful amount of steel to our own steel fabrication operations that in turn produce and sell structural steel joist and deck building systems to consumers.
