Position Summary: Clark Nexsen, A JMT Company has a current opening for an Engineering Technician I. The Engineering Technician I will be responsible for assisting in the production of construction drawings. Typical responsibilities include drafting and three-dimensional modeling of marked-up plans, sections, details, and notes produced by the senior project staff.
Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.
General responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Perform all aspects of modeling and/or drafting on projects, or portions of projects, as directed by the design manager or project engineer. Projects may include single-discipline or multi-discipline building-type structures for both new and existing construction.
  • Work with the engineer to resolve all instances of conflict in the building elements and the work of another discipline discovered during the drafting and/or modeling process.
  • Adhere to company and department standards for both CAD and BIM projects.
  • Communicate and coordinate with technicians and professionals from other disciplines during the development of models, plans, sections, and details. Results of such communication and coordination shall be shared with the engineers or designers working on the project.
  • Comply with quality control policies and procedures.

Project responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Assist Engineers and Interns with tasks as assigned.
  • Drafting of marked-up plans, partial plans, sections, details, and notes provided by the Engineer.
  • Completing sections and details produced to a schematic-level of completion by the Engineer.
  • Developing an accurate, three-dimensional model of the project with the necessary level of detail using the required Building Information Modeling (BIM) software package
  • Coordination with technicians and professionals from other disciplines within the design team
  • Participate in multi-discipline BIM coordination efforts.
  • Adhere to task budget and schedule.

Required Experience
  • Have earned a high school diploma, or equivalent, and completed coursework in AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or BIM software packages (Navisworks) from a technical or vocational school; or
    • An Associate's Degree in a field of study related to drafting and design; or
    • A certificate in a field of study related to building drafting and design; or
    • Certificate of Management for Building Information Modeling (CM-BIM)
    • Applicable Autodesk certifications
  • Active membership in drafting or modeling-related organizations (local or web-based)
  • 1-4 years of experience with the following software:
    • AutoCAD
    • Autodesk Revit

Working Conditions

The selected candidate is expected to work in a JMT office location at least three days per week or as needed to perform assigned duties. While most of our work is desk-based, there may be times when standing, walking, bending and lifting of minimal weight are required.
