Job description

Survalent is seeking innovative and enthusiastic Software Developer Co-op students to join our  Web Application Development team this Fall 2026. This team is responsible for building secure, high-performance, and scalable web applications that help electric utilities monitor, control, and manage power flow ensuring safe and efficient delivery of electricity. As part of the team, you’ll work on both front-end and back-end development using modern frameworks and technologies. In this role, you will primarily support our quality assurance and CI/CD initiatives. This includes developing automated test scripts using our internal framework (leveraging Playwright, TypeScript, Node.js, and various tools), working with required data stacks, and helping to enhance our infrastructure to better support automation. It’s a great opportunity to gain practical experience in real-time software systems, modern QA practices, and the power utility industry. If you are passionate about quality practices and real-time software applications, this is a great opportunity for you!   What will you be doing? * Work with the Team Lead/Senior developers to create automated/functional test scripts for both Server / Web Applications. * Coordinate with the Build team to integrate those scripts into software building process and advance our CI/CD infrastructure. * Create technical documentation as required. * Contribute as a member of a development team to write high-quality and maintainable code including Front-end UI and effective Web (REST) APIs. * Test real-time software to ensure responsiveness, scalability, and efficiency. * Follow Agile development processes to ensure efficiency while maintaining product robustness and quality. * Other duties as required   What are we looking for? * Currently enrolled in a university program in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. * Experience and/or familiarity of TypeScript. * Experience or familiarity with front-end web development (e.g. HTML5, JavaScript). * Experience working with any web/JavaScript framework (e.g. React, Angular, or Vue). * Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns. * An ability to learn and develop solutions across platforms and understand new technologies. * Any Database skills (MS SQL/MySQL, MongoDb). What’s Nice to Have * Experience using Visual Studio and developer frameworks. * Experience designing and developing software using design patterns and objected oriented concepts. * Experience with any source control applications including Git, Bitbucket. * Experience with CURL, Postman, Swagger, Fiddler and similar technologies. * Experience of multi-threading and other performance-related design constructs. * Any experience with building intuitive, mobile-friendly and responsive UI/UX design. This is a 4-month co-op position reporting to the Team Lead, Web Application. The hourly range for this role is $20.
