Position Summary / Objective:

We are looking for candidates to fill an IT Specialist / Web Design position at our Wallops Island, Virginia station. The Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) at Wallops Island requires support in management, engineering, operations, and technical expertise for the activation, operation, maintenance, and engineering of equipment, systems, and computer programs. This support is crucial for all Naval Sea Systems Command and Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems missions and projects conducted at SCSC. SCSC offers live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric maritime environment, aimed at developing, testing, evaluating, and conducting fleet operations and training for the warfighter.

Essential functions:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

  • Lead small software development projects using agile methods to develop applications within the IIS/AWS framework, as well as developing in the SharePoint environment.
  • Plan and coordinate execution of software development activities to include requirements elicitation, development of schedules, documenting designs, coding, debugging, testing, and facilitating user acceptance.
  • Establish standard operating procedures for software development activities.
  • AWS Cloud Administration: will manage the AWS environment (EC2, S3, Amazon CLI, CloudWatch, etc.) as well as act as a server admin as needed to support the servers, verify STIG settings, IIS, and SQL database.
  • Optimize existing web applications and ensure applications comply with the Department of Defense.
  • Application Development: Support application and system development which includes C# .Net, SharePoint, Angular, Node.js, JavaScript, CSS, PowerApps, Power Automate, Power BI, etc., as well as supporting legacy applications in ASP.Net.

Required education and experience:

  • BS or BA in Web Design, Computer Science, or related discipline
  • MS or MA will substitute for two (2) years of the relevant experience requirement.
  • Four (4) years of directly related experience in web, intranet, and MS SharePoint design.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and succinctly.
  • Extensive knowledge of programming languages to include HTML, VB Script, XML, JavaScript, MS SQL, C++, C#, MS SharePoint, Relational Database Design.
  • Strong understanding and experience in PowerApps

Able to maintain an active DoD Secret security clearance.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

The typical workday is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. Attendance at prescheduled mandatory meetings is required. Must be available during the core work hours as determined by your contract/location and must account for the required number of hours in a pay period to maintain Full-time status.
