 The Role

As the Advisor Web Developer, you’ll be integral to our work in helping vulnerable children achieve a brighter future. You will design, support, and enhance the digital platforms that connect donors, advocates, partners, and communities to Save the Children’s mission. By delivering reliable, secure, and user-centered web solutions, you will help expand our reach, strengthen engagement, and enable critical programs that improve the lives of children around the world.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Web Development & CMS Management 40%

  • Develop and maintain customizations for the CMS platform.
  • Provide administration support for the CMS platform.
  • Act as an advocate and subject matter expert for modern web application design and development.
  • Support ongoing enhancements, updates, and maintenance activities to ensure platform stability and performance.

Website Applications & Optimizations 15%

  • Develop, maintain, and support other website-related applications such as tag managers, analytics, monitoring, and consent management.
  • Conduct website audits, analytics validation, SEO reviews, accessibility assessments, and content reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance website functionality, user experience, accessibility, and compliance.

Operations Monitoring & Technical Support 25%

  • Provide operational support through daily production stand-ups, including monitoring application health, reporting system status, communicating known issues, addressing technical inquiries and coordinating follow-up actions.
  • Support and lead troubleshooting on website and website-related issues.
  • Participate in after-hours support activities as needed for critical incidents, releases, or maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors as needed to resolve issues and ensure service continuity.

Agile Delivery & Quality Assurance 20%

  • Perform quality assurance testing and peer review to ensure functionality, accessibility, and code quality.
  • Participate in scrum/Agile ceremonies and development activities.
  • Oversee testing and deployment validation efforts to ensure website enhancements meet quality and performance standards.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance development processes, standards, and team effectiveness.

Required qualifications for the role

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience implementing and maintaining web analytics
  • Experience using HTML5, CSS/SASS, JavaScript, and PHP
  • Experience with a version control system
  • Experience developing customizations for a CMS
  • Strong technical communication skills with the ability to translate CMS functionality into clear documentation and guidance for content authors, and non-technical users
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently investigate issues, perform root cause analysis, and identify solutions
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English

        Preferred qualifications for the role

        • Experience with Blackbaud Luminate and/or Drupal
        • Experience working with Adobe Analytics
        • Experience working with Tags in Adobe Experience Platform and Google Tag Manager
        • Experience with Adobe Target
        • Experience with Git

          Compensation

          Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

          • Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $91,800 - $102,600 base salary 
          • Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $83,725 - $93,575 base salary 
          • Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $74,800 - $83,600 base salary 

          The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record. Actual base salary may vary based on, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here).
