Web Content Filter information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a web content filter?

To thrive as a Web Content Filter, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with internet safety standards, typically supported by experience in digital content review or moderation. Proficiency with content management systems, filtering software, and reporting tools is essential. Excellent judgment, effective communication, and the ability to handle sensitive material with professionalism are crucial soft skills. These abilities ensure accurate identification of inappropriate content and help maintain a safe, compliant online environment.

What is a web content filter?

Web content filters are software tools or hardware devices that control access to content on the internet. They work by blocking or allowing access to specific websites or types of online content based on predefined policies or rules. Organizations, schools, and parents often use web content filters to protect users from inappropriate material, reduce distractions, and increase security by preventing access to malicious sites. These filters can be customized to fit different needs and can operate at the network level or on individual devices.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working as web content filter specialists?

Web content filter specialists often encounter challenges such as staying updated with constantly evolving web threats and ensuring that filtering systems effectively block harmful content without disrupting legitimate access. Balancing user privacy concerns with the need for security is another common hurdle, as is customizing filters to meet diverse organizational policies. Regular communication with IT teams and end-users is essential to address false positives and maintain an optimal browsing environment.

Job description

About the role:

Rubrik is looking for a visionary, high-impact Director of Web Marketing to act as the strategic architect and executive champion for our global digital presence. This is a "player-director" role designed for a leader who can navigate high-level corporate strategy while maintaining the technical curiosity to jump into the trenches alongside their team. You will be the resident expert for all things web, bridging the gap between the Head of Digital Marketing's vision and IT's technical execution.

We aren't looking for a "maintainer"-we are looking for a transformative leader. You are a relentless critical thinker who continuously questions the status quo and isn't afraid to ask "why" to drive meaningful change. You will lead a unified web organization by coaching our expert leads in Web Performance and Web Production, empowering them to leverage Generative AI and advanced automation to scale our content, personalize user journeys, and stay ahead of the curve. Your role is to filter the "noise" of technical complexity into a clear, strategic narrative for Rubrik's executive leadership. This role reports into our HQ in Palo Alto, 3x per week.

What you'll do:
  • Executive Advocacy & Strategic Alignment: Serve as the primary voice for the Web team at the leadership level; secure the resources and alignment needed for our domain experts to execute world-class work.
  • AI-Driven Innovation: Champion the use of Generative AI for content scaling, AI-driven personalization to tailor the user journey, and next-gen AI tools to supercharge SEO and Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO).
  • Transformative Thinking: Deeply analyze existing processes to identify friction points. You are expected to challenge "how we've always done it" to build a more efficient, high-performance digital engine.
  • Strategic Storytelling & Distillation: Take the high-volume output of the production and performance teams and distill it into a high-level narrative for executive leadership, focusing on business impact and long-term vision.
  • Team Enablement & Coaching: Empower and coach your leads to own their reporting and cross-functional relationships. You provide the mentorship and frameworks they need to showcase their wins to the broader organization.
  • Strategic IT Liaison: Act as the primary business stakeholder for IT, ensuring our technical architecture is world-class, scalable, and built to support the future of AI-integrated web experiences.
  • Operational Partnership: Lead from the front. While you own the strategy and coaching, you are ready to roll up your sleeves-whether helping the production team navigate a high-velocity launch or assisting the performance team in diagnosing a complex tracking issue.
Experience you'll need:
  • 12+ years of experience in web strategy or digital leadership, with a track record of leading high-performing teams in a high-growth B2B SaaS environment.
  • The "Why" Factor: A critical thinking mindset with a proven ability to interrogate workflows and drive transformative change in complex organizations.
  • AI Literacy: Practical experience or a deep strategic understanding of how to leverage AI/ML for content automation, SEO optimization, and web personalization.
  • Mastery of Distillation: A proven ability to take massive amounts of technical data and project updates and condense them into a concise, impactful "executive-ready" story.
  • Low-Ego "Player-Director": You have the veteran experience to lead, but you haven't lost your passion for the craft. You lead by example and are happy to "get in the weeds" to help the team solve a complex problem.
  • Technical & Operational Fluency: You speak "Developer," "Marketer," and "Analyst" with equal ease, bridging the gap between production and performance workstreams.
