Job Description:
Investment Engineering is part of the Investments Team within Dimensional. Investment Engineering is responsible for ownership of investment data and analysis tools, which means managing said data from acquisition through distribution, driving analysis to create insights from data, and creating the and analysis consumed by internal and external clients and reports. Investment Engineering is a hub group touching numerous areas of the implementation of the investment process and interacting with most other departments within Dimensional.
Within Investment Engineering, the Analytics Platforms team creates tools, content, and reporting for clients to understand Dimensional's products and analyze how they might fit inside a client's portfolio.
Responsibilities
  • Architect, write code for, and optimize internal data platforms and self-service applications, ensuring secure, high-performance user access to data.
  • Independently design and build robust automated data pipelines, semantic layers, and scalable data models that cleanly translate complex investment workflows into production-grade infrastructure.
  • Set the technical benchmark by writing clean, testable code, conducting rigorous code reviews, and resolving complex debugging issues.
  • Act as the technical translator and product owner, partnering with departments like Portfolio Management and the Global Client Group to gather raw requirements and directly engineer technical solutions.
  • Own the end-to-end technical product lifecycle, managing both product feature roadmaps and hands-on system enhancements to guarantee uptime, data reliability, and continuous deployment (CI/CD).

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Financial Engineering, or a highly quantitative field.
  • 7-10+ years of hands-on experience writing advanced SQL, developing production-level Python, and engineering complex pipelines with large financial datasets.
  • Deep technical proficiency in designing and implementing backend semantic layers and frontend solutions using BI platforms like Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or custom web apps.
  • Proven ability to independently build and scale data products from database ingestion to user interface. Experience translating abstract user feedback into concrete database schemas and system designs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, driving data engineering strategies, executing complex technical initiatives, and managing senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional data storytelling skills, with a proven ability to translate complex technical architectures into clear concepts for investment professionals and business teams.
