Summary of Position:
The Senior Web Designer & SharePoint Administrator is responsible for the architecture, design, development, deployment, and sustainment of Microsoft SharePoint environments supporting organizational collaboration, knowledge management, and automated business processes. This role ensures optimal site performance, security compliance, and user experience while working closely with stakeholders to capture and implement mission requirements through modern web design, custom workflows, and integrated solutions.
This position could potentially be in any of the following locations: Shape, Vicenza, Stuttgart, Wiesbaden, Grafenwöhr, Vilseck, Hohenfels, and Kaiserslautern.
Essential Job Functions: (not limited to duties as described - performs related duties as requested)
  • Lead the planning, setup, configuration, and administration of Microsoft SharePoint Server environments, including permissions, content management, and site collections.
  • Design, develop, and maintain SharePoint sites, pages, dashboards, forms, and workflows aligned with organizational branding and functional mission needs.
  • Conduct requirement gathering sessions with stakeholders to translate business needs into automated solutions using SharePoint Designer, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
  • Implement user-friendly web design and UI/UX improvements to enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide proactive maintenance, performance optimization, and issue resolution for SharePoint services, content databases, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Ensure security compliance with DoD/Army cybersecurity policies, including access control, data protection, and vulnerability remediation in coordination with ISSM/IT leadership.
  • Maintain documentation including configuration baselines, architecture diagrams, test plans, and SOPs.
  • Deliver user training, onboarding support, and technical guidance for SharePoint capabilities and web content publishing.
  • Integrate SharePoint with other enterprise applications and services as authorized.
  • Support lifecycle upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.

Level of Supervision:
  • Provide management and oversight of the SharePoint program support team.
  • Must be able to function independently
  • Provide overview and general use training to all organization members and key leaders upon request.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Web Design, Computer Science, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 7-10+ years of SharePoint administration and web solution development in enterprise environments.
  • Expertise with SharePoint 2016/2019 or SharePoint Online, including site collection and content management.
  • Strong experience creating automated workflows and custom forms (e.g., Power Automate, Power Apps, Nintex).
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design principles.
  • Experience aligning design and automation with customer requirements, business rules, and compliance mandates.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • DoD experience preferred, including knowledge of Army Information Management policies and operational requirements.
  • Must meet specified clearance criteria and possess required DoD network access permissions, as applicable.

License & Certifications:
  • IAT II Compliant

Travel:
  • 15% or more required
