Job description

CAPSLO is seeking a Weatherization Installer to join our Energy Services team. This role installs weatherization measures and performs minor home repairs for homes enrolled in funded programs, ensuring work meets program standards while improving energy efficiency, safety, and comfort for the communities we serve.

What you bring to the table: 

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED.
  • Level I: Requires a minimum of six months experience in home weatherization, home repair and/or construction.
  • Level II: Requires a minimum of two years experience in home weatherization or comparable construction experience, and completion of Basic Weatherization training.
  • Level III: Requires a minimum of three years experience in home weatherization or comparable construction experience. Must have own power and hand tools needed to perform work, including power saws, drills and hand tools.
  • Level IV: Requires a minimum of five years related experience with at least three years in a weatherization program. Must have own power and hand tools needed to perform work, including power saws, drills and hand tools.

As a Weatherization Installer you will: 

  • Installs weather-stripping, caulking, showerheads, water heater blankets, insulation and other weatherization measures, and performs minor home repairs according to program specifications.
  • Maintains accurate records of work performed and materials used on the job.
  • Maintains accurate records of material inventory on vehicles.
  • Performs duties in shop and warehouse including carpentry, inventory, clean-up, and routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Performs corrections on any failed inspections of weatherized homes and completes correction paperwork.
  • Inspects homes to determine the amount of materials needed and repairs to be made.
  • Trains new and existing staff as required.
  • Attends meetings, workshops and training as determined necessary by the Program Director.
  • Maintains positive relations with customers, staff and utility company representatives.
  • Performs outreach and assessment for energy programs as needed.
  • Must use reasonable precautions in the performance of one’s duties and adhere to all applicable safety rules and practices; and act in such a manner as to assure at all times maximum safety to one’s self, fellow employees, clients and children.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
