Psychologist 3 - Full Time - Project, non-perm position
Shift: 7:30am-4:00PM Monday- Friday
The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Psychologist 3 HIO (high intensity outpatient) at the Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW), in Gig Harbor Washington. This is a day shift position that will require work to be completed onsite at the facility.
WCCW Mental Health (MH) improves public safety by positively changing lives through providing medically necessary and individualized care so incarcerated individuals can heal and recover and re-entry the community as better neighbors.
The Co-Occurring Psychologist 3 (CO Psych 3) works directly to improve public safety by positively changing lives through grant funded mental health treatment targeting recidivistic factors relevant to incarcerated women. The position supports the mission of DOC, Health Services Division, and mental health, by providing senior level professional mental health care services, under both the supervision and lead of licensed psychologists, to adult incarcerated individuals (I/Is) housed at WCCW.
The Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW) is a 62.6-acre facility located approximately two miles from Gig Harbor. The site includes living units, administration buildings, a health clinic, education buildings, a gymnasium, a chapel, industries buildings, food service buildings and support facilities.
Correctional Health is a rewarding career path at DOC, in which health care professionals treat a wide array of cases for patients residing in a state correctional facility. Health Services is responsible for basic primary care for incarcerated individuals. All disciplines within all of the 12 correctional facilities work closely together to reach a common goal, providing the best, most efficient, and cost-effective health care possible. Emphasis is placed on early identification of health concerns, care for acute and chronic health problems, and preventive care.

Duties
Duties to include:
Co-Occuring Psychologist 3 (CO Psych 3): Providing services to clients waiting to get into co-occuring SUD/PTSD services (pre-treatment), already enrolled in co-occuring SUD/PTSD services (active participants), and transitioning out of care (post-treatment) in the facility.
Clinical Interviews

• Utilizes team meetings, milieu contacts, and a formal interview process to obtain background information, determine provisional diagnoses, and evaluate treatment needs.
• Completes collaborative and therapeutic assessments of incarcerated individuals on their caseload utilizing a wide range of psychological assessment instruments that are selected based on the incarcerated individual's individual needs, gender, cultural background, and presenting symptoms.

Coordination of Care

• Communicates relevant symptoms, safety, and discharge information to the RSAT treatment team during treatment team meetings. Takes into consideration HIPAA, safety, and limits of confidentiality when making a decision about what to share with team members.
• Recommends housing placement and treatment needs for incarcerated individuals on their caseload and makes appropriate treatment referrals.
• Coordinates care and provides consultation for other mental health staff in the program.

Treatment

• Provides treatment (individual and group) to incarcerated individuals in the co-occuring program(active treatment) and waiting to start the program (pre-treatment). All treatment (both individual and group) will be documented on gender specific, individualized and culturally competent treatment plans.
• Provides individual and group treatment utilizing promising practices and evidence-based treatments for assigned caseload.
• Responds to Requests for Mental Health Assessment (form 13-420).

Documentation

• Includes milieu observations, treatment team feedback, previous records, and structured interview information in Mental Health Updates (MHU's) for each client.
• Utilizes the writing tool Conclusion, Rule, Assessment, Conclusion (CRAC) to formulate and justify diagnoses in all Mental Health Appraisal's (DOC form 13-376), Mental Health Updates (DOC form 13-600), Re-Entry Community Safety Program (RCSP) reports, formal psychological assessment reports, and cases submitted electronically to the Care Review Committee (CRC).
• Interprets and integrates results of psychological assessments into relevant documents and provides client feedback on evaluation results.
• Documents suicide evaluation using the Suicide Risk Assessment (SRA) form and includes in the written assessment documentation of the correctional risk factors assessed (included dynamic, static, and acute), housing and placement considerations, and relevant risk management planning.
• Documents all contacts with patients in a timely manner via Mental Health Primary Encounter Reports (MH-PER's) or Mental Status Exam's (MSE's) utilizing SOAP format.
• Inputs daily OMNI encounters (electronic) on all incarcerated individuals seen that day.
• Uploads required documents to Sharepoint.

Research analysis/utilization and program planning/evaluation.

• The CO PSYCH 3 enters client symptom data into Sharepoint data sites for clients in evidence-based care treatments.
• Provides a structure for program mental health measure collection related to treatment outcomes as supervised by the Psychologist 4's. This includes identifying which data measures (including PCL-5, PHQ, URICA, etc.) will be used to evaluate client progress and reviewing data once returned from the PSYCH4/Headquarter's and implementing any needed changes.
• The CO PSYCH3 manages treatment plan and MHA/MHU CQUIP compliance quarterly, ensuring numbers fall between 90-100%.
• Participates in research projects as assigned.
• Creates and designs treatment plan templates for RSAT which match operational inspection anchors (OIA's).
• The CO PSYCH 3 utilizes the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Public Health Response to Trauma materials to assess the treatment environment. The CO PSYCH3 actively works with RSAT stakeholders to improve compliance of the environment to the rubric provided in the materials.
• The CO PSYCH 3 tracks their own individual competence in trauma informed care utilizing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Public Health Response to Trauma materials, specifically, utilizing the Core Competencies for Trauma Informed Staff self-assessment tool.

Qualifications
Required qualifications:
Education: Ph. D or Psy. D in Clinical Psychology.
AND
Licensure: Within Washington State Mental Health Counselor License, Washington State Psychologist License or Licensed Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration (LAAC) within 60 days of position appointment.
OR
Independent License as a Psychologist in the State of Washington.
Maintain and adhere to the continuing education and licensing/registration requirements for the applicable license above through the Department of Health (DOH).
*A licensed agency affiliated counselor may only provide counseling services as part of his or her employment for a recognized agency. Applicants for an agency affiliated counslor credential who apply within 7 days of employment may provide services within the agency for up to 60 days while the Department of Health processes your application

The CO PSYCH3 has knowledge of various psychotherapeutic modalities including psychodynamic modalities, cognitive/behavioral modalities and humanistic/existential modalities.
