Applied Technology and Management (ATM), a Geosyntec Company, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Waterfront or Coastal Professional to support to our growing coastal engineering, restoration, and waterfront practice in our Mount Pleasant, South Carolina office. The position will work on local, regional, and international projects including marina and water access facilities, coastal restoration, beach and inlet management, climate adaptation and nature-based solutions, and resort and urban waterfronts. The selected candidate will develop professionally within a team dedicated to coastal and waterfront projects while gaining the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

  • Develop business and manage clients and projects in coastal projects including beach nourishment, shoreline stabilization, dredging, environmental restoration and mitigation, etc.
  • Task and project management, including waterfront and coastal engineering investigations and planning work, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability;
  • Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the waterfront and coastal engineering work in marine related projects;
  • Management and mentoring of junior staff and managing subcontractors;
  • Work plan development, data evaluation, and report writing;
  • Reviewing and managing written document production; and
  • Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 20%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 20%

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, coastal, or environmental engineering, coastal science, or closely related field of study. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (e.g., EIT or PE) (preferred)

  • At least 8 years (10+ years preferred) of experience in a consulting environment in the coastal/waterfront industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Exceptional social skills and outstanding oral and written communication skills, in English. (required)
  • Proficiency with mapping or drafting software such as ArcGIS or AutoCAD. (preferred)
  • Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • Valid passport (or eligibility obtain) and ability/willingness to travel internationally to support project work. (preferred)
