We're searching for a motivated, detail-oriented Field Services Technician II to join our team in State College, PA.


In this role, you'll perform regulated environmental sampling, water and wastewater sample collection, environmental monitoring, field inspections, and specialized field operations, including independent execution of environmental sampling programs and operation of automated composite sampling equipment. This position also plays an important role in supporting environmental laboratory operations and requires flexibility to assist with laboratory workflows, sample receiving, sample preparation, and operational support as business needs require.



What You'll Do

  • Perform regulated environmental sampling and sample collection in accordance with approved EPA methods, state regulations, and company procedures
  • Collect water, wastewater, groundwater, and environmental samples from municipal, industrial, and commercial client sites
  • Travel to and from client sites to pick up and deliver environmental samples following assigned routes and schedules
  • Maintain proper sample custody, integrity, preservation, and regulatory holding times during transport
  • Deploy, retrieve, program, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain composite sampling equipment
  • Verify composite sampler operation and document maintenance activities, corrective actions, and field observations
  • Conduct field inspections at water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment plants, well sites, distribution systems, industrial locations, and storage facilities
  • Perform required field measurements, environmental monitoring activities, observations, and documentation
  • Independently identify and resolve routine sampling, monitoring, or equipment issues; escalate non-routine concerns as needed
  • Complete chain-of-custody records, field logs, electronic documentation, and compliance paperwork accurately
  • Perform in-house sample triage, including verification of containers, preservation, labeling, and documentation
  • Prepare, stage, clean, and replenish sample kits, coolers, preservatives, and field supplies
  • Provide sample receiving, sample log in, and routine testing support to laboratory operations as needed
  • Interact professionally and courteously with municipal, industrial, and commercial clients during field activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Vocational training in a related technical field strongly preferred
  • 1+ years of prior experience in field services, sampling, or relevant field role
  • Prior hands-on analytical laboratory experience strongly preferred
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record


Work Schedule & Environment

  • Full-time, field-based position with flexibility to work overtime, including evenings or weekends as needed
  • Ability to operate company vehicle for extended periods of time in varying weather and terrain conditions
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions for prolonged periods
