The Impact You'll Make
The Water Spider is responsible for keeping materials and paperwork needed to perform an operation in stock at the point of use in assigned production areas. This position will also be accountable for the general organization of material in their assigned area and the monitoring of ERP data to highlight possible issues, material shortage and impact to the production areas. In the "just in time" concept, Water Spiders take care of all material transport around the processes. Water Spiders allow operators to concentrate on value adding activities while supporting good efficiency and effectiveness of the operators and machines. The Water Spider will spend most of their day out on the shop floor.
This is a 2nd Shift position, with work hours from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
What You'll Be Doing
- Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
- Ensure that all agreements concerning moving and the supply of materials are observed.
- Ensure that required parts are always available at the agreed place and time.
- Prepare, communicate, and execute a plan to effectively provide material and any required paperwork needed to run the next job in queue for assigned work centers.
- Coordinate with Material Handlers, Planners, Team Coordinators, Receiving and Warehouse to ensure parts are ready to run when they are scheduled; from raw material stock to lines, between lines, and between Receiving and the lines.
- Coordinate with Team Coordinators and Planners to ensure that the correct jobs are being prepared for each work center.
- Organize incoming and outgoing parts in your assigned area while maintaining organization and consistency throughout the department.
- Ensure that material and storage, in their area of assignment, appears clean and tidy.
- React and take immediate actions in case of changes in priority.
- Participate in continuous improvement and cost saving initiatives.
- Participate in EH&S and Quality initiatives.
- Working according to standard operation procedures
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- A proactive team player who is a self-starter with constant attention to improvement.
- Must possess excellent reasoning and communication skills.
- Candidate must be extremely focused and organized.
- This role will require a high level of energy, creative thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in MS office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time.
- Previous Assembly or Material Handling experience (including Forklift) preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with SAP preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee regularly is required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee occasionally lifts up to 35 pounds and uses a cart to push up to 100 pounds regularly.
While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee has the potential to be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is at a level the company recommends hearing protection. The employee must be physically able to wear appropriate PPE.
