Job Description
Position Purpose:
Incumbents will be responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining and operating water distribution facilities, grounds and associated equipment (including water mains, service lines, valves and hydrants). Incumbents will also perform leak surveys, flow tests, line locations, water quality tests and inspections. Incumbents must keep daily records of time and material. Follows Veolia and OSHA safety requirements and uses the appropriate PPE while on the job. Represent Veolia in a professional manner. Use provided tools and equipment to complete tasks as assigned. Operate company vehicles to travel to job sites. Basic computer skills required with the ability to send and receive emails, access work orders through the use of company provided mobile devices and utilize company software.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Well versed in the use of tools, equipment, fittings and pipe used throughout the system. Using pipe wrenches, pipe saws, tubing cutters, valve keys, tapping machines and line crimpers to accomplish installations and repairs. (PVC, Cast Iron, Ductile Iron and Asbestos Cement mains and related fittings. Plastic and copper services and related fittings.)
  • Learn all aspects of service and main repair and installation including replacing and installing fire hydrants, main valves, sleeves, clamps etc. Repairing and installing domestic, commercial and fire line services and the use of related fittings and special tools involved in completing the above tasks. Working in leak repair situations where water is running and operating pumps, jackhammers and generators to accomplish timely repairs.
  • Must have the ability to read maps and locate valves (gate boxes and curb boxes) to perform shutdowns as needed on mains as well as services. Using locating devices to locate service lines and mains as well as curb boxes and gate boxes.
  • Must be able to learn job set-ups and oversee that the work being done is done in a safe, time effective, and quality manner.

Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
  • High School Diploma/GED is required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Must have the ability to comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of carpentry, cement work, painting and plumbing.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
  • A valid State Driver's License is required.
  • A valid CDL "A" License is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to move up to 25 pounds and lift up to 100 pounds.
