Position Summary / What You'll Do


As an Engineer II on the Municipal Team, you will evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques to support drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will also be a part of our Team's industry-leading project work in water reuse, anaerobic digestion, organics diversion, and renewable natural gas. Working as part of a collaborative project team, you will perform design tasks, contribute to project documentation, and build technical expertise while developing sound engineering judgment.



Responsibilities / Day-to-Day

  • Perform moderate design tasks, including engineering computations and analysis for water and wastewater infrastructure projectsย 
  • Participate in fast-paced project teams with a focus on the water-energy nexus
  • Prepare portions of plans, specifications, technical reports, and related project documentsย 
  • Assist with the design of drinking water distribution and wastewater collection systems as well as water, wastewater, and biosolids treatment facilitiesย 
  • Conduct research and regulatory review related to municipal codes, permitting, and environmental requirementsย 
  • Collect and evaluate field data to support engineering decisions and project developmentย 
  • Assist with preparation of permit applications and supporting documentationย 
  • Support project teams in maintaining schedules, budgets, and deliverable timelinesย 
  • Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and regulatory agencies as part of project executionย 
  • Use standard engineering software and CADD tools to develop project deliverablesย 
  • Participate in construction-phase support activities such as field visits, responding to contractor questions, and reviewing documentationย 


Qualifications


Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related engineering degree from an ABET-accredited programย 
  • Minimum of two years of relevant engineering experience
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificationย 
  • Experience supporting drinking water or wastewater engineering projectsย 
  • Strong communication and organizational skillsย 
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a project teamย 
  • Valid driver's licenseย 

Preferred

  • Experience with water distribution or wastewater collection system designย 
  • Familiarity with hydraulic calculations or modeling softwareย 
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design softwareย 
  • Experience supporting permit applications and regulatory coordinationย 
  • Progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensureย
