What does a watch specialist do?

A Watch Specialist is an expert in the evaluation, repair, maintenance, and sale of watches, particularly luxury and high-end timepieces. They provide services such as battery replacement, movement servicing, cleaning, and restoration, as well as offering advice on watch care and authenticity. Watch Specialists often work in jewelry stores, watch boutiques, or repair shops and may also assist customers in choosing the right watch for their needs. Their expertise ensures that watches remain in optimal condition and retain their value.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a watch specialist?

To thrive as a Watch Specialist, you need strong knowledge of horology, watch brands, and timepiece mechanics, typically gained through experience or formal training in watchmaking or luxury retail. Familiarity with inventory management systems, point-of-sale (POS) software, and basic repair tools is commonly required. Exceptional customer service, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help build client trust and deliver an outstanding buying experience.
