Prep Washer - Job Description

Position Title: Prep Washer
Department: Service / Detail
Reports To: Detail Manager or Service Manager
Location: Cumberland Auto Center

Position Summary

The Prep Washer is responsible for thoroughly cleaning, washing, and preparing vehicles for customer delivery, service appointments, photography, or showroom display. This role ensures each vehicle meets dealership quality standards and provides an exceptional presentation for customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Wash, clean, and detail the exterior and interior of vehicles, including cars, trucks, and SUVs.
  • Pre-wash vehicles prior to full detailing or service work.
  • Dry vehicles by hand, remove water spots, and ensure a streak-free finish.
  • Vacuum interiors, clean windows, wipe down surfaces, and remove debris.
  • Assist with prepping vehicles for lot display and online photos.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the wash bay and work area.
  • Safely move vehicles around the lot and service areas.
  • Follow all dealership safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Assist the detail team and service department as needed.
  • Report any vehicle damage or management concerns immediately.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles (preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
