    Primary Responsibilities
    Department: Inventory Control / Inventory Management
    Reports To: DC Inventory Control Manager
    Position Summary:
    The Cycle Counter is responsible for executing scheduled and unscheduled cycle counts within a high-volume food distribution center, ensuring physical inventory consistently reconciles with system on-hand quantities. This role requires a working knowledge of warehouse operations and a genuine understanding of how inventory accuracy impacts the broader business. Ideal candidates take ownership of their counts, communicate discrepancies clearly and collaboratively, and hold themselves to a high standard of accuracy.
    Essential Functions
    • Key Responsibilities:
      Cycle Count Execution:
      • Execute scheduled and walk-off counts on assigned locations, sustaining a count accuracy standard of 98% or greater.

      System & Data:
      • Navigate WMS (NTS) to create, view, and manage cycle count batches, self-initiating counts and identifying, root-causing, and correcting variances without reliance on leadership direction; escalating systemic discrepancies to IC leadership as appropriate.

      Operational Awareness:
      • Develop working knowledge of warehouse processes across supporting departments to understand how inventory accuracy impacts the broader operation.

      Collaboration and Growth
      • Engage with the Sr. Cycle Counter as primary mentor and resource during onboarding and beyond.
      • Participate in regular check-ins with the DC IC Manager and contribute to a culture of accountability, interoperability, and empathy.

      Qualifications:
      • High school diploma or equivalent required.
      • Some experience in warehouse, distribution center, or logistics environment preferred; motivated candidates with no prior experience will be considered.
      • Ability to obtain VHP, Reach Truck, and Picker equipment certifications within 30 days of hire.
      • Ability to work in physically demanding environment; standing, walking, and operating powered equipment for extended periods.
      • Basic computer proficiency; ability to navigate inventory or warehouse management systems with provided training.
      • Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated ability of accuracy under pressure.

    Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude
    Preferred Skills:
    • Prior experience in cycle counting, inventory control, or receiving.
    • Familiarity with WMS platforms; NTS or AS400 experience a plus.
    • Ability to identify patterns in count discrepancies and communicate findings clearly to leadership.
    • Comfortable working independently and self-managing workload within defined daily priorities.
      • Demonstrated reliability and consistency.
