Job description

American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of both consumer and industrial products that are sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home-heating markets. AWF is comprised of 450+ employees and holds operations at 11 locations, generating over $100M in annual sales revenue. We are currently seeking a candidate for the 2nd Shift Shipping Forklift Operator role in our Jamestown, CA facility
JOB SUMMARY
The Shipping Forklift Operator is responsible for working in a safe, efficient manner to maximize the shipping and receiving of finished goods and materials.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. SHIPPING/RECEIVING
  • Operate forklifts safely and efficiently.
  • Load and unload shipments from AWF and customer trucks and containers.
  • Move finished goods and materials to and from designated staging or storage areas.
  • Verify shipment accuracy against bills of lading.
  • Secure loads to ensure safe transport and ensure product loaded is clean and not damaged.
  • Accurately scan all loads.
  • Take pictures of all loads (National Accounts will require more pictures).
  • Communicate effectively with shipping Coordinator, management and team members.
  • Courteous and professional communication with customers, vendors, and drivers.
  1. QUALITY
  • Inspect products for visible damage, correct labeling, and proper packaging before shipment.
  • Verify correct item numbers, quantities, lot numbers, and batch codes prior to loading.
  • Ensure FIFO (First-In, First-Out) procedures are followed where applicable
  • Report damaged goods, discrepancies, or quality concerns to supervisor immediately.
  • Ensure pallets are properly wrapped, labeled, and meet company quality standards.
  1. Safety & Maintenance
  • Inspect forklifts before and after use; report maintenance or safety issues and fill out pre-trip inspections.
  • Maintain clean and organized shipping and warehouse areas and equipment.
  • Use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are followed for dock safety, including use of glad hand locks, and wheel chocks for trailers.
  • Attend and participate in a monthly safety meeting

  • Establish personal growth and working relationship with fellow employees to further improvement and teamwork

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Manufacturing: 1 year (Preferred)
