Job Title: Overhead Crane Operator – Steel Manufacturing Warehouse

Location: Downriver, MI (Flat Rock, Riverview, Gibraltar)

Rate: $17/18 Based on experience

Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and safety-focused crane operator to join our steel manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating large-capacity cranes, a strong understanding of material handling, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate cranes safely and efficiently, ensuring the safety of yourself and fellow employees at all times.
  • Perform daily inspections of crane wires and ropes to identify and report any frays, breaks, or signs of wear.
  • Secure and center loads properly, ensuring they are lifted at safe heights and clear of surrounding objects.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, free from debris.
  • Stack materials neatly and safely at appropriate heights in designated areas.

Position Requirements:

  • Crane permit from a previous employer and at least 6 months of experience operating a 20-ton crane with a C-Hook (remote or cab-ridden).
  • Completion of a crane safety test and possession of a valid crane operating permit (must carry the permit at all times).
  • Ability to pass a vision test to ensure safe crane operation.
  • Extensive knowledge of crane functionality, weight distribution, and maximum capacity.
  • Proficiency in reading and using a tape measure accurately.
  • Basic computer skills for updating and tracking material handling tasks.
