Job description

Position Overview: Voltaire, an upscale nightlife venue within The Venetian Resort, welcomes applications for the Wardrobe Technician position, an essential role within our show operations crew. Reporting to the Head of Wardrobe, this role plays a crucial part in ensuring the seamless execution of wardrobe tasks for Voltaire’s talented cast members. As a Wardrobe Technician, you will bring your expertise in costume construction, maintenance, and coordination to support the creative and artistic endeavors of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate proficiency in working with sewing machines, overlockers, and hand-stitching to craft, alter, and repair costumes.

• Skillfully alter costumes to align with fitting notes and ensure their stage readiness.

• Contribute to costume crafting, including trimming, stoning, and finishing of costumes.

• Contribute to additional styling work including on shoe, millinery, and wig projects.

• Collaborate on updating dressing lists, labeling costumes, and recording alteration notes during fittings.

• Assist with the setup, organization, and orderliness of artist dressing rooms.

• Assist with setup and operation of quick-change cues.

• Undertake various tasks related to ongoing costume upkeep.

• Fulfill specific laundry requirements, as directed.

• Provide calm and creative thinking in handling a variety of personality types and situations.

• Manage multiple tasks and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.

• Participate in end of day shop cleaning and organization projects as needed.

• Prioritize safety as an essential aspect of the job. Practice safe and appropriate use of common chemical-based products found in a costume shop, including, but not limited to dyes, spray paints, barge, contact cement, spray adhesives, etc.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in wardrobe maintenance and show wardrobe operations.
  • Proficiency with sewing machines, overlockers, and hand-stitching techniques.
  • Familiarity with theatrical wardrobe conventions, terminology, and practices.
  • Extensive stitching experience preferred.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changes.
  • Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and projects.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication abilities, especially within a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to complete OSHA 10 training, as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift or carry up to 20 pounds unassisted.
  • Navigate all areas of the property.
