Wardrobe Intern Jobs in Nevada (NOW HIRING)

Wardrobe Intern information

What is a wardrobe intern?

Wardrobe interns assist the costume or wardrobe department in theater, film, television, or fashion projects. Their responsibilities typically include organizing and maintaining costumes, assisting with fittings, helping with costume changes during productions, and sometimes performing minor repairs or alterations. Interns gain hands-on experience by supporting designers and stylists, learning about costume care, and understanding the workflow of a professional wardrobe department. This role is ideal for those interested in pursuing a career in costume design or fashion styling.

What types of tasks and responsibilities can I expect as a wardrobe intern on a production set?

As a Wardrobe Intern, you'll support the costume department by organizing clothing, assisting with fittings, prepping garments, and helping maintain continuity throughout filming. You'll often collaborate closely with costume designers, stylists, and actors, ensuring all wardrobe pieces are clean, labeled, and ready for each scene. Attention to detail and flexibility are key, as your daily tasks can vary based on production needs, ranging from steaming garments to making quick repairs or adjustments on set. This role provides valuable hands-on experience and insight into the fast-paced world of costume design for film, television, or theater.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a wardrobe intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Wardrobe Intern, you need a basic understanding of fashion principles, garment care, and organizational skills, often supported by coursework or experience in fashion or costume design. Familiarity with sewing machines, garment steaming tools, and inventory management systems is typically required. Strong attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure are standout soft skills. These abilities ensure seamless costume changes, garment maintenance, and smooth backstage operations in fast-paced production environments.
