Job description

Summary of Purpose:
Leads monitoring, evaluation and assistance activities for nuclear power stations in their assigned functional area, interacting with utility personnel, INPO/WANO management, and industry professional groups.
Essential Functions
  • Acts as lead Operations evaluator on WANO peer reviews as described in the WANO-AC Manual for Conducting Peer Reviews
  • Acts as lead Operations evaluator for baseline interactions and visits supporting continuum activities per the WANO-AC Performance Continuum Manual
  • Identifies and analyzes problems with plant operations
  • Assesses plant performance in the operator fundamentals and operational focus areas
  • Effectively communicates verbally and in writing with all levels of the utility personnel, including operations management
  • Leads the facilitation of plant operations working meetings
  • Leads in evaluation, assistance and management of plant operations initiatives
  • Frequent travel (up to 40%) is required to visit nuclear sites and other locations domestically and internationally
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • In depth, detailed knowledge of functional area
  • In depth, comprehensive knowledge of the nuclear utility industry
  • Advanced proficiency in solving complex and multifaceted problems using data, trend, and analysis to inform decision making
  • Advanced ability to use research, analysis, and stakeholder feedback to influence and execute strategies while remaining up to date with industry regulations and compliance standards
  • High levels of communication skills to convey complex ideas and strategies in a clear and compelling manner
  • Advanced ability to work independently as well as in teams/groups, to align long-term organizational strategies
  • Ability to lead functional area and cross-functional teams.

  • Advanced skills in building and maintaining positive relationships, handling complex conflicts with key stakeholders, and ensuring alignment with INPO's mission

Education, Licenses, and Certifications
Required
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) certification or Navy equivalent

Preferred
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, physical science or other related area
  • Navy nuclear training

Experience
Required
  • Six or more years of professional work experience
  • Four or more years of senior reactor operator experience on shift or equivalent experience

Preferred
  • Five or more years of managerial experience, preferably as a shift manager, superintendent of shift operations, operations manager, or director-level experience
  • Three total years of additional experience in maintenance, engineering, and/or work management
  • Two or more years of INPO/WANO evaluation experience

  • Must be able to work prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to work under minimal supervision
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and crawl
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds
