This role serves as Walmart's commercial leader for grid-connected energy origination and is responsible for building and leading a high-performing team, sourcing and executing long-term energy partnerships. The role also engages external stakeholders—including utilities, developers, investors, and policymakers—to expand access to affordable, reliable, lower-carbon energy.
About the team:

The Offsite Energy Investment Team leads large-scale, grid-connected clean energy projects by collaborating with developers, utilities, policymakers, and internal partners. • Source and evaluate opportunities using financial and scenario analysis, and risk assessment (market, credit, regulatory, technology, and execution risk).
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of energy procurement and partnership opportunities across utilities, developers, infrastructure providers, and emerging energy technologies.
  • Structure and negotiate complex deals (multi-party, long-duration contracts) in partnership with Legal/Finance—balancing economics, risk allocation, and performance guarantees.
  • Develop and execute long-term commercial partnerships supporting large-scale energy projects
  • Lead cross-functional execution from diligence through approvals, contracting, and ongoing performance management.
  • Develop strategic external relationships with counterparties (developers, utilities, financiers, advisors) to expand pipeline and improve terms.
  • Influence market-enabling conditions through policy/regulatory engagement and industry collaboration.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team, setting clear priorities, coaching talent, and scaling repeatable processes.

What you'll bring:
  • 8+ years in deal origination, energy procurement, project development, project finance, corporate development, strategic partnerships, or related commercial roles.
  • Track record negotiating and closing long-term, high-value commercial agreements (energy, infrastructure, telecom, logistics, real estate, data centers, utilities, or other regulated/asset-heavy sectors).
  • Demonstrated ability to originate opportunities, develop commercial relationships, and create transaction pipelines in competitive markets.
  • Strong capability in financial analysis and commercial decision-making (NPV/IRR, contract economics, credit, and risk frameworks).
  • Experience operating in regulated and/or policy-influenced environments (utilities, transportation, healthcare, etc.).
  • Demonstrated people leadership and ability to build teams, culture, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Executive-level communication skills—able to translate technical and financial complexity into clear decisions.
