Job description

Position Summary... What you'll do...

Role summary: As Software Engineer III, you'll think deeply, execute decisively, and continuously raise the quality of our systems and processes. Collaboration is critical, and so is accountability: You’ll work alongside talented peers who challenge assumptions, debate ideas rigorously, and push one another to deliver durable, production-ready solutions. This role is for a Software Engineer who wants end-to-end responsibility—driving features from concept through release, operating them in production, and improving them over time. If you’re motivated by real ownership, technical depth, and meaningful impact, you’ll find this role both demanding and rewarding.

About the team: At VIZIO, world-class entertainment experiences are built by engineers who take ownership, move fast, and hold themselves to an exceptionally high standard. Our team designs, builds, and ships web services that support SmartCast TVs and VIZIO sound bars used by millions of people every day—and we do it by solving complex technical problems at scale.

What you'll do:

  • Design and implement back-end APIs written in Golang and deployed across Azure
  • Write and maintain Terraform for deploying infrastructure to various environments
  • Write and maintain unit tests and functional tests using Postman and Github Actions
  • Frequently communicate in writing and verbally, both internally and with other teams, especially when working on larger features that span functional domains
  • Build services that are consumed by many teams across the company
  • Deliver features that are flexible, cost-effective, maintainable, and can be easily debugged, even at-scale
  • Optimize cloud resource usage in Azure, including compute, networking, storage, and security

What you'll bring:

  • BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
  • 2+ years Software Engineering experience, including at least one year Golang development
  • Experience with a strongly typed language, to migrate APIs to Go
  • Experience deploying to major cloud-based providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), including deploying cloud functions, containers, data stores, API gateways, etc.
  • Understands queue-related technologies (SQS/SNS/Event Grid)
  • Knowledge of the SDLC and its best practices, including code standards, reviews, source control (git), test-driven development, continuous deployment, and agile methodologies
  • Outstanding communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Collaborative spirit: You're self-driven, trust-worthy, supportive, tactful, and you enjoy sharing, and you support decisions once they're made
