Job Title: General Laborer

Job Description

This role supports the full construction process of residential units, including framing, roofing, drywall installation, taping, texturing, painting, and quality assurance. You will work with hand and power tools to build and finish homes from structural components to final interior and exterior details, ensuring each unit meets established quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Frame interior and exterior walls according to specifications.
• Install insulation in designated areas as required.
• Glue and staple drywall panels securely in place.
• Lift drywall off the table and install it on the floor structure.
• Set cabinets in place and ensure proper alignment and fit.
• Hook up all plumbing connections as directed.
• Cut and press roof trusses to required dimensions.
• Lay out drywall on tables for roof assemblies.
• Load rafters and roof components together as part of the assembly process.
• Apply alpha seal to trusses and drywall to secure the roof structure.
• Use a crane to lift roof assemblies and move them to the pit as needed.
• Mud seams and apply vapor barriers to roof and wall assemblies.
• Lift roofs and set them on roof decking and roofing paper.
• Install windows and doors accurately and securely.
• Trim all windows, doors, corners, soffits, fascia, and related exterior details.
• Install shingles and roof vents to complete roofing systems.
• Paint the exterior of the house to specified standards.
• Tape and mud all corners and joints on interior walls and ceilings.
• Cover cabinets, doors, appliances, and other surfaces with plastic before spraying texture or paint.
• Spray texture on interior walls and ensure even application.
• Paint the interior of the house, including walls and ceilings.
• Perform thorough clean-up of work areas after tasks are completed.
• Inspect the house during all phases of construction to verify quality and compliance.
• Monitor quality processes and report any issues or deviations.
• Inspect the home at the end of construction and load any ship-loose material needed.
• Place all required tags on the unit before it leaves the facility.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and submit it to the front office.
• Measure the width and height of units using a tape measure and record measurements as required.

Essential Skills

• Proven ability to use a tape measure accurately (minimum required experience with tape measure usage).
• Experience with construction tasks such as framing, roofing, drywall installation, and finishing.
• Proficiency in using power tools safely and effectively.
• Proficiency in using hand tools for carpentry and general construction work.
• Ability to install drywall, cabinets, windows, doors, and roofing components.
• Experience with taping, mudding, and texturing drywall surfaces.
• Ability to read and follow measurements and layout instructions.
• Basic carpentry skills, including trim carpentry and wall panel installation.
• Ability to perform concrete-related tasks as needed.
• Capability to perform interior and exterior painting.
• Experience using tape guns and related finishing tools.
• Attention to detail in quality assurance, inspection, and documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in trim carpentry, including detailed finishing around windows, doors, corners, soffits, and fascia.
• Experience in wall panel installation and roofing work.
• Familiarity with texture application and mudding techniques for drywall.
• Comfort working in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Ability to complete a tape measure test as part of the hiring process.

Work Environment

You work in a manufacturing and construction environment that is currently fully shaded but can be dusty, dirty, and hot due to the nature of the work. The facility operates as a production site where homes are built and finished, involving regular use of hand tools, power tools, drywall equipment, tape guns, and painting gear. Around April 2027, operations will move to a new climate-controlled manufacturing facility in El Mirage, offering improved comfort while maintaining a hands-on, physical work setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Goodyear, AZ.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
