Overview

A Seasonal Retail Sales Associate at the Museum & Garden Shop is responsible for all sales activities and sales associate job duties, from greeting customers, answering questions, offering assistance, suggesting items, lending opinions, and providing product information. Seasonal associates will work up to 25 hours a week from July to February. Schedules will include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Our shop sales associates are the welcoming faces that greet customers and provide them with a memorable shopping experience. We are searching for a qualified seasonal sales associate to add to our team, and to provide the exceptional customer service Newfields’ Museum & Garden Shop is known for. The ideal candidate should be an excellent communicator who has a knack for selling merchandise and building relationships. With a keen eye on customer satisfaction, the seasonal sales associate answers questions and maintains a clean, well-organized sales floor. You are the driving force behind new and ongoing sales opportunities — directly impacting our growth and success.

Responsibilities 

  • Welcome and greet customers as they enter the Museum & Garden Shop
  • Provide in-depth product knowledge
  • Answer customer questions and concerns
  • Attend to unique and individual shopping needs of each customer
  • Cross-sell and encourage beneficial product add-ons
  • Promote current sales and promotions
  • Explain Newfields member benefits and encourage customers to join
  • Process purchases, returns, and exchanges
  • Handle customer complaints in a calm and professional manner
  • Organize and replenish merchandise
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work and retail space
  • Help create a positive environment for customers to shop and buy
  • Work as a team to achieve sales goals
  • Perform any other duties as directed by supervisors

Required Skills

  • Computer literate; familiarity using POS systems

Education and/or Experience
