Overview
VW Connect is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Gas Compliance Coordinator to support our Safety, Compliance, Training, and Quality Control operations within natural gas team.
The Gas Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring field operations comply with company policies, client standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable safety procedures. This role will work closely with field crews, supervisors, utility representatives, contractors, subcontractors, and leadership teams to maintain safe, compliant, and high-quality execution across all projects.
The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and experienced in utility construction, gas operations, field auditing, documentation management, excavation safety, virtual inspections, and compliance oversight.
Compensation starting at $65K+ annually, with higher compensation available based on experience, qualifications, certifications, and utility industry experience
Responsibilities
Compliance & Field Oversight
  • Conduct field audits and inspections to verify compliance with company policies, utility standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure crews are following applicable gas construction procedures, safety requirements, and operational controls
  • Conduct trench inspections and ensure proper excavation safety practices before gas installation activities
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with Natural Gas operational standards and procedures
  • Conduct tailgate safety meetings and compliance discussions with field personnel
  • Participate in stand-downs, safety retraining, and field coaching when operational deficiencies are identified
  • Communicate compliance expectations effectively between field crews, utility representatives, and management teams
  • Review work packages, construction prints, utility schematics, and field documentation for compliance verification
  • Read and interpret utility construction prints, plans, and schematics
  • Monitor and verify compliance related to: Gas meter installations -Leak testing documentation-Regulator installation-Trench and excavation safety-PPE requirements-Traffic control standards-Calibrated instruments, required calibration intervals, and documentation accuracy
  • Assist with corrective actions and follow-up documentation when deficiencies are identified
  • Support incident investigations, emergency response coordination, and documentation following utility damages or gas-related incidents
  • Assist with virtual inspections and accurately complete documentation and photo requirements

Training & Documentation
  • Track employee training, certifications, and Operator Qualifications (OQ)
  • Maintain compliance records and ensure documentation is audit-ready
  • Assist with onboarding and field orientation for new employees
  • Coordinate and schedule required training sessions
  • Support ongoing safety meetings and compliance communication initiatives
  • Assist in developing and distributing compliance alerts, flash reports, and operational updates

Reporting & Quality Control
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly compliance reports
  • Track trends related to safety, quality, and field performance
  • Assist with quality control inspections and documentation reviews
  • Monitor corrective action completion and accountability
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across operations

Qualifications
  • Experience in natural gas utility construction, utility services, or related field required
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, excavation safety, and gas utility operations
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and in field environments
  • Experience with compliance tracking, audits, virtual inspections, or safety documentation preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital reporting systems
  • Ability to read and interpret utility construction plans and schematics
  • Valid driver's license required

Preferred Experience
  • Gas utility or underground utility construction experience
  • Operator Qualification (OQ) familiarity
  • Safety, quality control, or compliance background
  • Experience working with utility clients, contractors, and field crews
  • Experience supporting API or similar utility operational standards

Physical Requirements
  • DOT-regulated position - federal drug screening required
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to travel to active job sites
  • Ability to walk uneven terrain and construction sites for extended durations
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
