Job description

We're looking for a Senior Ecommerce Development Engineer to help build and evolve a modern, headless ecommerce platform powered by Shopware 6. You'll work on a high-traffic ecommerce environment with a large product catalog, modern frontend architecture, and cloud-based services.

This is a true end-to-end engineering role. You'll own features from initial requirements through development, testing, deployment, and production support. We value engineers who take pride in shipping high-quality software—not just writing code.

You do not need prior Shopware experience. If you've built and maintained solutions on platforms like Magento (Adobe Commerce) or another extensible ecommerce platform, we'll help you ramp up quickly.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, test, deploy, and support new ecommerce features and enhancements.

  • Develop and maintain a modern headless storefront using TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks such as Vue.js/Nuxt.

  • Extend and configure the ecommerce platform through customizations, plugins, and integrations.

  • Troubleshoot issues across the frontend, backend, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.

  • Write automated unit and integration tests while ensuring reliable, high-quality releases.

  • Participate in production support, root cause analysis, and continuous platform improvements.

  • Create clear technical documentation, including design decisions, deployment notes, and operational runbooks.

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders in an Agile environment.

  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity while maintaining engineering best practices.

What We're Looking For

Required Experience

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.

  • 3+ years developing ecommerce or other highly transactional web applications.

  • Experience working with Shopware, Magento (Adobe Commerce), or another extensible ecommerce platform.

  • Proven experience owning projects from development through production support.

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience with TypeScript and modern frontend development.

  • Experience building headless or API-driven web applications using frameworks such as Vue.js and Nuxt.

  • Solid understanding of ecommerce concepts including:

    • Product catalogs

    • Pricing and promotions

    • Checkout and order workflows

    • API integrations

    • Performance optimization and caching

  • Experience writing automated tests and debugging production applications.

  • Comfortable working with Git-based workflows and Agile development tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Preferred

  • Experience with Shopware 6 or Shopware Frontends.

  • Experience with AWS-hosted applications and cloud monitoring tools.

  • Experience working with large ecommerce catalogs and complex product hierarchies.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, observability, and release automation.

What Success Looks Like

  • Delivering reliable features with minimal production issues.

  • Taking ownership of software quality through testing and production validation.

  • Contributing to a stable, scalable ecommerce platform.

  • Creating documentation that improves team knowledge and maintainability.

  • Effectively using modern AI development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining high engineering standards.
