Job description

Position Summary

The Career Advisor is responsible for assisting participants with career planning, resume development, employment preparation, and job search activities. Working collaboratively with Job Developers, Case Managers, and the Work Readiness team, the Career Advisor prepares participants for successful employment through individualized career coaching, career exploration, interview preparation, and job matching.

What You'll Do

Career Development & Participant Advising

  • Develop, update, and maintain professional, ATS-compliant resumes tailored to participants' skills, work history, certifications, career goals, and targeted job opportunities. 
  • Review Career Scope, Talevation, and other career assessment results with participants to identify career pathways and employment opportunities. 
  • Conduct individualized career advising sessions and develop Career Plans that align with participant goals and labor market demand. 
  • Guide participants through career exploration using approved resources, including O*NET, Mi Proximo Paso, Career Dive VR, and labor market information. 
  • Provide career guidance and coaching to help participants make informed employment and training decisions.  

Employment Readiness & Job Placement Support

  • Provide job search assistance, including employment applications, cover letters, interview preparation, and employment readiness coaching. 
  • Collaborate with Job Developers to identify, prescreen, and refer qualified participants for employer interviews, recruitment events, and hiring opportunities. 
  • Support participants in overcoming employment barriers through ongoing coaching, follow-up, and connection to available resources. 
  • Monitor participant progress toward employment goals and provide individualized support to increase job readiness and placement success. 

Documentation, Case Management & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including case notes, Career Plans, resumes, and employment-related activities in Fedcap CARES and SEAMS. 
  • Ensure all participant records are complete, accurate, and compliant with HRA, Fedcap, contractual, confidentiality, and program quality standards. 
  • Document participant engagement, progress, services provided, and employment outcomes according to program requirements. 

 Program Collaboration & Professional Engagement

  • Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, professional development activities, employer events, and other program initiatives. 
  • Collaborate with Case Managers, Job Developers, and program staff to support participant engagement, retention, and employment success. 
  • Represent Fedcap and the PACE Manhattan program professionally with participants, employers, partners, and community stakeholders. 
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

You're a Great Fit for This Role If You Have

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field; or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Experience providing training or leading workshops.
  • Preferred: Experience working with individuals affected by justice involvement, homelessness, disabilities, or long-term unemployment.
  • Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish.

Compensation:

$52,000 annually/$25.00 hourly
