We are seeking a VP of Finance/Controller who is ready to step into a high-impact leadership role. This role offers the unique opportunity to work closely with and learn from an experienced financial leader in a service-focused, financially sound organization, who is committed to your professional growth and development. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will drive financial excellence, strengthen infrastructure, and help shape our future while gaining valuable executive exposure in a collaborative, mission-focused environment.

Position Overview:

The Vice President of Finance/Controller is a key member of our executive leadership team, providing strategic financial leadership while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Accounting department. This role combines the technical expertise of a Controller with the strategic vision of a finance executive, ensuring the organization's financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and long-term financial sustainability.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Accounting department while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial statements, regulatory reports, tax filings, and internal financial reporting.
  • Lead the month-end close process, general ledger reconciliations, and continuous improvement of accounting policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor organizational liquidity and manage the investment portfolio in accordance with Board-approved policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Develop annual budgets, financial forecasts, asset/liability management (ALM) reporting, and long-term financial strategies that support organizational objectives.
  • Maintain effective internal controls and financial procedures that safeguard organizational assets and ensure regulatory compliance. Partner with external auditors, internal auditors, and regulatory agencies during audits and examinations.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to identify financial opportunities, evaluate organizational risks, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor changes in accounting standards and financial regulations, translating them into effective policies, procedures, and business practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, strengthen financial processes, and support sustainable organizational growth.
  • Present financial results, analysis, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and regulatory agencies.

Our Ideal Candidate

You are a collaborative, results-oriented finance leader with a strong background in credit unions or community banking. You thrive in roles that combine technical mastery with strategic influence and team development.

Success in this role requires exceptional judgment, executive presence, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to leadership, the Board of Directors, auditors, and regulators. You are a strategic leader who can effectively oversee complex accounting operations while helping to advance the organization's long-term financial objectives.

What We Offer:

  • Growth and Learning Opportunities: Work side-by-side with an experienced CFO who brings deep industry insight and a commitment to developing the next generation of leaders.
  • Impactful Leadership Role: Contribute directly to a stable, purpose-driven organization that supports union communities while advancing your strategic finance expertise.
  • Work-Life Balance: We understand the importance of balance and offer paid vacation, sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and flexibility with occasional remote work and flexible hours.
